Possibly come into contact with people who have just come back from these counties!!

Do you work in immigration?

BabyOne90 · 23/01/2020 18:07

I would definitely speak to your boss, even if you’re not planning on telling work yet. Explain that it’s still really early so you’d appreciate their discretion. It’s just not worth the risk.

I’ve had to do the same - I teach in labs at university and have to sit out of a practical that involves a chemical that can effect unborn babies. I had to tell my line manager that I was pregnant and she assured me she’d keep it confidential.

Do you interact with people from Wuhan as part of your job?
I probably have a coronavirus right now. I certainly have a mild cold.

I share some concerns my job involves contact with a lot of people from all over China and with Chinese New Year lots of those will travel back to china for a week or so then return back here.
I’m not really panicking about it but being pregnant it’s certainly playing on my mind more than it normally would I think.
I’ve wondered about raising it at work as a concern but I’m not sure what they could do about it really!
I’m further along so HR know so I guess if they knew of a particular reason for concern over increased risk they’d inform me.

....here we go.....

If you're really concerned speak to your boss and have it written into your risk assessment

Good handwashing makes a big difference. You could keep some alcohol hand gel with you to use regularly, and try to avoid touching your eyes and face as much as possible. Stay well clear of anyone coughing.

I live in Asia (right next to China) and I am pregnant and I really couldn't care less.

Don't let the media hype you up.
