Hi
Am I right I thinking you get a 90 percent average of your earnings the 8 weeks prior the getting smp so if for example you are signed off sick and get no pay / only stat sick pay in those 8 weeks you will get far less ? Just thinking about this as have really suffered this pregnancy am 24 weeks and going to start maternity leave in 5 weeks but am really struggling - but assume if I go off sick not only will I lose pay now I’ll get less smp? Can anyone clarify this is right? Thank you x

Its weeks 17-25 that they use for calculating SMP. If you only get SSP in those weeks you wouldn't meet the earnings rule for SMP. Have you been on sick pay so far?
