Hey

So was wondering if anybody was self medicating with aspirin following a MC??

And if yes what was the outcome?

Thanks :)

I had 2 MCs and made the decision to self medicate with 75mg of aspirin after the 2nd. I’m now 31 weeks with a healthy rainbow. The hardest bit was knowing when to stop during pregnancy but in the end I was put on it for risk factors and now take 150 daily.

I couldn’t say if it was or wasn’t the aspirin that meant 3rd time lucky though, but what I do know is I will probably take when TTC baby number 2.

Self medicating isn't advisable unless a doctor has specifically stated you need to take it

Aspirin can actually cause miscarriage when taken without medical need

I asked this question at my recurrent miscarriage clinic and that was what I was told by the specialists

After my 3rd miscarriage the gp told me to take aspirin as soon as I was pregnant again. Unfortunately didnt help that time around. Now in this pregnancy the midwifes have told me to take two asprin so I am doing so, but was planning on taking it myself again anyway

I did after my 7th, when the doctor refused testing because DH and I were "still young and had plenty of time" Hmm

Got pregnant right away...with twins. They're 6 weeks now and doing wonderfully.

I did but by that point I knew I had a blood clotting issue so I started aspirin from the day I got my BFP.

I'd be wary of just taking it. If you can afford to, pay for blood tests for clotting factors so that you know whether you need it.

Thanks everyone for the replies
So i went today to the private doctor and asked for coagulation profile to check clotting but she said to first do platelets count and full bloods and then see from there.
Will have results tomorrow!

Thanks :))
