So I’ve been started on it today. 18 weeks pregnant, I feel like a total utter failure that I have to take this whilst pregnant. Looking for some positive feedback is all really. So upset that’s it’s gonna damage my baby x

I took it from 12 weeks when I was pregnant with DD. She’s now 14 and pretty intelligent. It was much better for me to take it than not Smile

Thank you 🥰

I took it all through my pregnancy, and continue to take it 18 months post birth whilst still breastfeeding.

If I didn’t take it, like I didn’t in my last 2 pregnancies, I would have continued to experience anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD, and depression.

I would 100% take it during any future pregnancy’s, please don’t feel bad for taking it x

A doctor would only ever prescribe something If being without it is more damaging than being with it. Taking it is in your best interests, please don't worry xx

I work in maternity care, I would estimate about a quarter if not more of the women we see are on antidepressants. You are not alone!

You are not a failure! I was prescribed it at about the same stage as you and I couldn't have carried on without it. Pregnancy does strange things to our hormones and illness in the mind can be absolutely debilitating. My pregnancy progressed well and baby is a healthy and happy child now. Don't beat yourself up. Remember when you criticise yourself you criticise us all and I don't think you'd be unkind to a fellow sufferer, so be kinder to yourself. Thanks

You are not a failure!

Please don’t feel like a failure. You have been prescribed it for the benefit of you and your baby. The doctor would not give you something that would harm your baby. Iv been on sertraline for over 10 years and throughout my pregnancy at a dose of 150mg. I sought ALOT of medical advice from gp, psychiatrists, obs and gyne and all recommended being on it while pregnant as it was it mine and my baby’s best interest and the risks of anything where extremely low (eg an increase of something from 1% to 2%) and any research done cannot even conclusively link sertraline to those extremely low increases as there are so many other factors that can cause them too.

Thank you guys 🥰 I used to take fluoxetine before pregnancy - I stopped then abruptly when I found out I was pregnant, silly of me I know. I knew it was a possibility I’d have to start taking them again if I got bad again, I thought I was just doing really well without them x
