Hi Ladies,

Would anyone mind sharing their experience with low dose asprin 75mg who have taken until delivery?

  1. Did it prevent preeclampsia?
  2. Did you have any bleeding side effects after delivery?

Thanks

Did take it last pregnancy.
Didn't have preeclampsia ( which was the reason I was taking as with DS I had severe preeclampsia).

I did bleed quite a bit after birth and needed a lot of medicine and injections to stop it. Became anaemic and stayed an extra day in hospital. Don't know if it's 100% related but I suspect so.

Having had the severe form of preeclampsia I can say I was super happy I didn't have it that time too.

Now pregnant again and I'm on 150mg( apparently it's much better).

Ah thank you so much for replying. So you took it right up until delivery? The bleeding is a concern for me, so I am worrying a little but I suppose the positive is they can stop it.
Are you taking the 150mg dose until delivery too?

No, not until delivery. I was told I can stop at 36 weeks. But with my DD I was then induced a few days later.

They usually advise you stop at 36 weeks or so, that you have some time until delivery to get to normal. Anyways in case you deliver earlier they will know and be ready for possibly more bleeding.

They can do so much to stop bleeding, but for preeclampsia there isn't much they can do. I was blessed by not having seizures but my organs were all failing, so preeclampsia can get really bad.

Ah see I've been advised to take until delivery. When you was induced a few days later tho you had no extra bleeding? I'm not sure whether to just go to 1 every other day when close to my due date! Just for peace of mind.

Scary what preeclampsia can do to you but it's great news the asprin works for you!

I took it during my second pregnancy, after developing severe pre eclampsia first time round. I did not develop it again - whether that was due to the aspirin or because it was another pregnancy with the same father (IIRC there's a higher risk in a first pregnancy with a partner for some reason, my ex got a bit miffed with every HCP asking if it was the same dad this time at every appointment!) I don't know.

I took it up to 36 weeks the had an elective caesarian section at 38 weeks. I didn't have any issues with extra bleeding or anything else after delivery. I hadn't realised just how crap I'd felt during my first pregnancy/post birth, due to having PE, until I went through a pregnancy without PE!

I’m taking aspirin (15+1) and had severe bleeding last night, thank God baby is ok!
Did anyone have any bleeding during pregnancy on aspirin?
