Has anyone been told different measurements from their scan to midwife?

Hi,
I’m 36+2 and have been having regular scans as scan shows I’m measuring big but the midwife measures me small. There’s a 2 pound difference in what they both say so the baby could be 6 pound or they could be 8 pound. If the baby continues to grow based on what the scan says I’ll be induced, but if I listen to what the midwife says they could be potentially inducing a smaller baby. I know neither scan or the way the midwife measures is 100% anyways but would like to know what other people have experienced and what they’re baby weighed. I’m petite and to have a “big” baby is basically what they’re worried about.

Yes. I'm 36+4. Midwife measured on 50th centile, scan saying 97th

Yep. Scan put my on an off the scale centile, midwife, just over the 50th.

Midwife was right. Scan predicted a 10+ lb baby. She was 8lb. Hmm

They massively over estimated the size of the stomach. The sonographer kept saying he couldn’t quite get the angle.. but it didn’t half cause me a lot of worry!

Sort of. I had a scan at 32 weeks which said baby is measuring big.
However, my bump is measuring smaller this time than in my first pregnancy. My first baby was only 7lb 3oz born at 41 weeks so I expect my "big baby" to be smaller than 7.3 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was told I was measuring 4-6weeks behind all the through my pregnancy abs had numerous scans with estimated 8lb baby. I had a 7lb 11oz baby!
Nice to have the extra scans

Midwife measuring seems to be very inaccurate. They dont take into account body shape etc - I have a flabby tummy underneath my bump which must add a few cm to the measurement.

Ultrasound size estimates arent much better! My DD was estimated to be between 8 and 9lb but was less than 7.

Hi.
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and when I was 30 weeks the midwife measured me being 35 weeks! So sent me for a scan. . . They said that the baby is measuring just fine.
2 days ago I got measured by another midwife who then had me at 33 week's!?

I'm having to have regular scans as I've had (in their eyes) a small baby previously.

When I was pregnant with my 2nd i was told again and again how I'm going to have a big baby... she's been my smallest so far, she weighed 7.10 but was smaller than my son who was born 7lbs.

I'm just going with the flow this 3rd time around as I know they can be wrong and the scans aren't always accurate.
Right now I'm 32 weeks, having scans because they're assuming I'm going to have a small baby but I'm measuring big but the scans say everything's how it should be.... god knows lol.

I don't consider scan or fundal to be accurate! A friend of mine was induced because her baby was big. He was only 7lb at birth.

Thanks everyone, I got measured by midwife yesterday who has me under the 5th centile, scans always say on 90th centile. I’m seeing the consultant next week so let’s see what they say. I don’t think they’ll know untill the baby is here!! SmileSmile

I was the opposite way round in all 3 pregnancies. Fundal height measured big, scans measured small baby. All babies were born small.

Yummymummy2020 · 22/01/2020 15:31

My scan said my baby was 7”12, baby came as 7”2 a week later! I was so worried as I had to be induced as an emergency and had been told the baby was going to be big in the previous scan so was pleasantly surprised at the reality!

Yummymummy2020 · 22/01/2020 15:32

Oh and just to add, my bump was huge and fundal height ahead also!

Loulah2845 · 08/02/2020 08:32

Hi everyone just thought I would update this post, our baby boy spontaneously came 11 days early weighing 7lb & half an ounce. Neither scan or midwife was right in what they thought. SmileSmile
