Reduced movements... again! Should I ring ?

I have already been seen at 27 and 31 weeks for reduced movements.. both times baby was completely fine and happy. I then had a growth scan which also showed everything was fine!

I'm now 34 weeks and feel like baby is being quiet again.. I have felt her move throughout the day but not quite as much as usual. I hate being annoying and ringing again because I always feel like I waste their time as baby is always fine! 😣

Even if baby has moved 10 times in the recommended 2 hours... should you still ring if you're worried?

It's never being annoying if you're worried. Ring every time.

MotherBarr · 21/01/2020 18:38

Ring, my midwife has always told me to ring for reduce movement or more than normal movements!

fellyjish · 21/01/2020 18:39

Definitely ring, I went in for extra monitoring a couple of times and was never made to feel like I shouldn't be there - even when they were very busy!

Wait4nothing · 21/01/2020 18:39

If you are worried ring. The risk is too great to ignore - you are not wasting their time - they tell you to go in for a valid reason. Most likely everything will be fine again which is great

LolaSmiles · 21/01/2020 18:39

You have to call every time you have reduced movements. You're not a burden. Midwives would rather see you more and everything be fine than have an unhappy outcome.

csmw · 21/01/2020 18:39

Anything other than normal it's best to ring, I was seen 4 times in my last pregnancy and was getting so stressed out as she wouldn't move for hours then as soon as those straps went on and I was hooked up to the monitor she decided to dance.

Gettingmyshittogetheragain · 21/01/2020 19:12

Always get yourself checked out.

I felt really silly with DC1 as I went in about 3 times I think but then I realised how shit I would have felt if I hadn’t gone in and something was wrong.

The midwives said to me always get checked out and that they’d rather see me 100 times and have a good outcome rather than the alternative

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 21/01/2020 19:14

Drink some ice cold water, lay down and see what happens. The midwives will tell you to do this.

If that makes no diff defo ring. My friend got told off for putting off ringing for reduced movements!

bananasmoothies · 21/01/2020 19:14

Always ring.

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 21/01/2020 19:15

Yes give them a call & let them decide

Bluebutterfly90 · 21/01/2020 19:16

Always call! I got told that they would rather you come in and not need to than have anything go wrong.

PPopsicle · 21/01/2020 19:18

Seriously, in the nicest way possible, if you even have a tiny bit of concern, call the unit at your hospital straight away and don’t waste time posting on here.

Emelene · 21/01/2020 19:18

Always ring. You don't need to ask here. Trust your instinct.

lastonetime · 21/01/2020 19:18

Ring please OP, they would always rather see you

Sewingbea · 21/01/2020 19:19

Yes. Phone, phone now and go in and be checked.

Beautyoftheirdreams · 21/01/2020 19:21

I always tell this story so I'm sorry if it's boring but I also think it's important. I had reduced movements at 31 weeks, I uhmmed and aahhed about calling in to get checked out, I was so worried about being a nuisance but eventually (10 hours later) went in. My son was delivered via EMCS 90 minutes after I arrived. My placenta had developed massive clots and had stopped working. He's 2 now and a happy healthy pain in the bum. Please get checked out

tjk10 · 21/01/2020 19:22

Phone your midwife and she will decide if you should go in now or wait it out.

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 21/01/2020 19:24

Always ring Lovely, they will not mind.
Hope all is ok x

maria94 · 21/01/2020 19:25

Thanks everyone, I will give them a ring now. X

I'm just home from my 2nd time going in. 39 weeks and some days he can be so quiet, other days he kicks all day. The minute I sat down to put the ctg probes on he started kicking away of course. But he had only moved once in 3 hours and I tried eating something sweet and drinking icy water and it made no difference. All looking good and apart from the very initial nurse (we have to go through ER unfortunately) I wasnt made to feel like a nuisance at all.

Herringbone31 · 21/01/2020 19:52

Yes yes yes!!!!! Ring every single damn time. And I 1000% am behind that. Friend of mine started the count the kicks campaign

My daughter nearly died from being in distress. My first sign? Not a lot of movement.

Babyg1995 · 21/01/2020 19:53

Have a cold drink and lay down on your left side if your still not happy
after an hour phone them that's what my midwife advised me .

Herringbone31 · 21/01/2020 19:54

I was the same as @Beautyoftheirdreams. Placenta had clotted and died.

Friend had reduced movements due to 2 knots in her child’s cord.

Always ring.

abbs1 · 21/01/2020 20:16

Please go in and get seen. I just went in this evening for the first time as I hadn't felt baby move since last night. I got told off for leaving it all day and should have gone in this morning. I certainly wont be making that mistake again. Thankfully baby is all good. 30 weeks tomorrow.

UsefulZombie · 21/01/2020 20:24

Always get it checked out OP. Hope everything is okay x
