Hi am nearly 16 weeks pregnant and suffering on & off with serious cramps in lower abdomian? (sp)

This has been going on since at least saturday but as it is on & off pain have kinda suffered in silence! Am now becoming concerned as it doesnt seem to be stopping and is becoming an issue through the night aswell.

All I can describe it as period pains or lower aching that comes and goes.

My DP isnt sure what to do but thinks it could be my body stretching again ready for LO (DS1-1yr)

So do I go to doc in morning or sit it out and wait for it to stop hurting? Just dont want to be a drama queen!

Suggestions greatly appreicated.....

tbh i would go to see the doctors if only to put your mind at rest.
If it's bad enough to keep you awake at night i would want to get checked out for my own piece of mind.

Docs or give your midwife a call.

notnowbernard · 30/08/2007 19:46

I would call the local maternity unit first, and ask for advice. That way you'll get to speak to a midwife directly. She'll also know the best course of action to take. Hope all is well

round here we get a list of useful numbers including that of the early pregnancy unit of the local hosp.

I would try them for persistent period type pain in early pregnancy - you might just be constipated but if so they can put your mind at rest.

good luck

I'd say your dp is probably right, but I would get it checked out for peace of mind. No point in continuing to worry needlessly.

VengefulSquirrel · 30/08/2007 19:57

Hi Yummy, I agree, get it checked out, but I just wanted to say that this happened to me at exactly 16 weeks! I panicked as they felt like little contrations to me. I called the Fetal Health Unit and they asked me to come in for an hour or two on a monitor.

I did, and they reassurred me that all was well. The very nice MW I saw said that around this time babes has a growth spurt and the ligaments do some serious stretching.

I would encourage you to go because they really don't mind at all checking things out and it will do wonders for your peace of mind.

Hope all turns out well. Love VS

Thanks will give the doctors a call in the morning, as I had bleeding and pain in early pregnancy, just didnt want to seem like I was bothering them with it again.

Thanks for your views, I kinda knew what I should do but then I didnt what to cause a bother! But then as DP say's it's important to get check out and make sure LO is going strong!

I think as Ive had a DS a little while ago I should know what to do but then each pregnancy is different and should expect it to be the same as before!

Well early waking for me in the morning and to the doc's asap, god ever feel like you live in there! hehe!

good luck for the morning. Let us all know how you get on YummyMummy.

I know what you mean - if there was a loyalty scheme at my doctors I would be flying first class to Acapulco. Tee hee.

At least it takes the sting out of paying taxes when you've really used the services!

Sleep well (hopefully)

my doctor drives a porsche, I want to see him earn it

SlightlyMadShockwave · 30/08/2007 22:19

I had something similar at about 14-16wks (but perhaps a little higher). It was much worse when I was laying down. Turned out I had a UTI - but I didn't have nay other symptoms of cystitis. I would take a urine sample to GP - they like to check them every time IME (unless you have an ingrowing toenail or something )
