If you had Hyperemesis - did you have it all of your pregnancies?

Hi All,

Just found out that I'm pregnant with no.3. Had bad hyperemesis with my previous 2 pregnancies (ended up in hospital and lots of drugs throughout).

So I'm expecting it...but just wondered if anyone had experienced it in a pregnancy - but not in a subsequent pregnancy?

Sadly not here. Had it in both mine.. I’ve def read posts from woman who escaped it in another pregnancy! I keep all my fingers crossed for you. It’s hell on earth.

CantStandMeow · 18/01/2020 13:43

Yep, it got worse each time too. Fingers crossed yours doesn't.

MustardScreams · 18/01/2020 13:45

I had horrendous HG in 2 pregnancies (both sadly ended in miscarriages) but was absolutely fine with dd, bar a bit fainty.

So it’s not 100% you’ll get it.

Engard · 18/01/2020 13:48

No. I was sick every day of my first pregnancy but only in a morning. It was manageable.
Got hyperemisis in my second pregnancy and it's enough to stop any 3rd pregnancy ever happening 🙁

endofthelinefinally · 18/01/2020 13:50

Yes. Each time.

Newfloorlamp · 18/01/2020 13:51

Had it throughout both pregnancies. Can you go to your gp and get a management plan in place and sort eg. extra childcare and a cleaner etc for if it starts? Best of luck OP.

Kanga83 · 18/01/2020 13:51

I had it in both, I found it much harder second time round too.

StopMegxit · 18/01/2020 13:55

I had bad morning sickness with DC1 that didn’t really ease until about 18-20 weeks into the pregnancy.

With DC2 I had full blown hyperemesis - completely debilitating, lost loads of weight, had to be hospitalised at certain points in my pregnancy etc.

I couldn’t go through that again, so didn’t try for a third.

HildaSnibbs · 18/01/2020 15:31

Yes - am pg with DC3 now and have had it each time. Kicked in at 6 weeks every time.

userabcname · 18/01/2020 16:06

No, had it with dc1 but not dc2.

user1490025201 · 18/01/2020 20:15

Thanks all!

Sounds like it's most likely coming. Ugh - I really can't deal - especially with an 8 month old and 2.5 year old in toe. I'll pre-empt with the doctor to get the drugs ready (starting light but Ondansetron is the only thing that even slightly touches the side by 6.5 weeks usually).

I'll try and eat something now before the fun begins.

No, had it terribly with #1, with #2 I had daily morning sickness but not HG but that felt amazing by comparison

wonderstuff · 18/01/2020 20:20

I had it for both but quite differently, pg1 ended at 6 weeks, pg2 I was queasy the whole time, sick every time I brushed my teeth, but chewing indigestion tablets mostly kept me from throwing up food. Pg3, much worse for the first trimester, constantly being sick, couldn't keep anything down, but actually felt well after about 16 weeks.

RandomWok · 18/01/2020 20:22

I had it terribly with my first. It was awful, I was vomiting in labour. 2nd wasn't too bad at all. Threw up for a couple of months and then was fine. Both girls 🤷‍♀️

danadas · 18/01/2020 20:32

I only had it with my first pregnancy in 2002. My second pregnancy in 2004, I was sick every day all the way through but not HG and with my third in 2012, more nausea than sickness. Fingers crossed you escape it this time. It is horrendous.

cptartapp · 18/01/2020 20:45

Yes both times. I was still vomiting at nine months with DC2 and actually lost weight!

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 18/01/2020 21:26

I did with both of mine

ChristmasCakeLover · 18/01/2020 21:29

Just my latest. I had sickness that hot progressively worse over each pregnancy.

Walnutwhipster · 18/01/2020 21:32

Yes, all three up until they were born.

Giggorata · 18/01/2020 21:36

No, it was dreadful with #1 but with #2 I got heartburn instead!

Ohfrigginghellers · 18/01/2020 21:37

My first pregnancy I didn't have any sickness. My second I did have it and it was horrendous. Being sick up to 5 times a day.

slyoldfoxystoat · 18/01/2020 21:43

No only when pregnant with my daughter, not my sons.

IRememberSoIDo · 18/01/2020 21:43

Yes and it got worse. It's just horrible.

Pasqual · 18/01/2020 21:45

Had it in both, second time has been so much worse
