Allergies and sinus congestion in pregnancy

My allergies normally kick up in spring but seems to have started early this year Sad nose is so congested and eyes are teary ... it's hard enough to sleep without this as well!!

I can't take my usual Benadryl and the NHS website says the nasal sprays are fine for use during pregnancy. Will pop to the pharmacy today to see what they recommend but has anyone here used anything that worked for them?

Pharmacist will likely direct you to you gp if you say you're pregnant. You can use loratidine in pregnancy and some of the steroid sprays are ok too

Sinus rinse. Can buy in chemist or make your own at home

You'll be able to use the saline sprays - norivar or similar off the shelf.

I used cetirizine whilst pregnant. Dr said it was fine.

You can take anti-histamines in pregnancy, they are some of the first line drugs used for anti-sickness! Ask your GP which ones are OK!

You can also use a steroid nasal spray as you usually would for heyfever and I use a salt spray as well!

Ps. I took loratidine throughout my previous pregnancy & all was fine. GP said it was deemed safe for pregnancy.. and indeed baby was healthy & happy!
