Hi Ladies, hoping you all can join soon. The TTC (trying to conceive) after MC (miscarriage) January group have been so supportive I hope we can keep it up for those who have BFP (big fat positive).

Glad to hear your scan went well today, @Sparkl.

Have you had a date for your 12 week scan yet?

ChampooPapi · 12/05/2020 19:52

@Sparkl so pleased to log and see your scan went so well, and seeing a heartbeat is so brilliant. Absolutely fantastic 🙌

As for the comments from the doctor, you are strong and have been through so much more then this, water off a ducks back lovely 💜

Sparkl · 12/05/2020 19:58

Thanks everyone, I think we won’t tell anyone for another few weeks so it’s so nice to have you all here to chat to.

@MilsCookie tbh I couldn’t really make out the heartbeat, sonographer described it as a flickering but the screen was upside down to me. Think you need to be an expert to know what you’re looking at!

I think I went in with totally unrealistic expectations, expecting to be told it was all over or that I can stop worrying completely and it was never going to be that at 6 weeks. Or at any stage really until we have these babies in our arms. @MrsB16 and @BS9790 just reading your posts I’m realising what a long road it is and there will be more things to worry about.
@BecsterG you’re right, one day at a time!

@FireflyGirl no I haven’t booked in for anything else yet, was waiting for the outcome today and now I’ll get back in touch with my gp. I’d love to be getting excited about making these appointments, I want to try and let myself enjoy this a bit instead of thinking that if I relax it will all go wrong!

MilsCookie · 13/05/2020 10:53

Morning ladies,

How are we all doing today?

@Sparkl I suppose the main thing is the sonographer definitely saw the heartbeat so I hope that gives you a bit of reassurance. Did they say anything about the heart rate?

@MrsB16 sorry you are feeling anxious, it's totally understandable though. Have you managed to speak to any of the midwives about how you're feeling?

So today I have finally reached 6 weeks (the last 2 weeks have felt even longer than the TWW!) and I treated myself this morning to using my final CB digital and thankfully got the 3+ sign!! Did a little happy dance when I saw that haha! Grin I also booked a private scan for 2 weeks today. Will be an absolute nervous wreck but I just need to know what's going on in there. The 12 week scan isn't until the 19th June and that just feels like AGES away!! Hope you're all well!

That’s brilliant @MilsCookie! So reassuring to see. I did one at 5+4 and got 2-3 and had half expected 3+ but I think it was a bit early. I should’ve waited it out like you! And only two weeks to a scan is manageable!
They didn’t say anything about heart rate, it really was too early to learn much I think.
So what are your symptoms like?! I really don’t feel pregnant. I have headaches and am super tired because my sleep is terrible at the moment. But it doesn’t feel specific to pregnancy. No nausea or even sore boobs anymore. My nails are more brittle, is that a thing? Clutching at straws here!

FireflyGirl · 14/05/2020 08:02

@Sparkl don't worry too much about lack of symptoms - mine kicked in with a vengeance at 6 weeks and are still going nearly 10 weeks later. So much for the second trimester glow... HmmGrin

I think I improved around 6 months with DS, then the SPD, heartburn and carpal tunnel kicked in. I love pregnancy, can you tell? Grin

You might just be one of those lucky people who don't get symptoms 🤞

@MilsCookie congratulations on reaching 6 weeks! My next scan is the beginning of that week, and I agree it feels ages away, but time just seems to be flying at the moment.

MilsCookie · 14/05/2020 10:15

Thanks @Sparkl! Yes I'm sure everything they saw was normal for the stage you're at. Are you going to get another scan or wait til the 12 week scan? Have you got a date through for that yet? My main symptom is absolute exhaustion most of the day - particularly after lunch. It just feels like all the life is being sapped out of me and all I want to do is lie down! But I don't have much nausea or anything like that yet. My boobs are really sore, particularly when I stand up! But it's just different for everyone isn't it. I had loads of symptoms last pregnancy and that one didn't work out... so I don't think it means anything either way!

Thank you @FireflyGirl wow I really feel like your pregnancy is flying! Are you still feeling rubbish then?

Has anyone got a little bump yet?!

BecsterG · 14/05/2020 12:52

I agree with @FireflyGirl girl about symptoms @MilsCookie @Sparkl . For the first few weeks I was worried as felt nothing other than my boobs were a bit tender (the reason I thought I was pregnant as never have sore boobs) but literally hit 6 weeks and felt rough until 9 and a bit weeks and then it eased up by about 80% literally overnight which also worried me! 😂 It's never ending right?! I still felt a bit off probably until 12/13 weeks but only minor. This also panicked me as with my DS I was pretty rough for 16 weeks until I started to feel better but I've had 4 scans (sounds like loads) and all is well with DS number 2.

I'd try and enjoy the days and weeks with minimal or no symptoms if you can as it's rubbish when they do hit. You might also be lucky and not get any.

It's funny how we all worry about the same sorts of things isn't it and all our pregnancies are different.

FireflyGirl · 14/05/2020 13:31

@MilsCookie I'm still struggling with nausea and exhaustion. Did with DS until the end of the second trimester, so I'm not unprepared just miserable.

I've had a bump since 9 weeks Blush

BecsterG · 14/05/2020 13:36

@MilsCookie I too have had a bump since early on, about 10 weeks. I feel quite big now. I'm 20 weeks but I'm as big as I was with my son at about 26 weeks I think. Here's my bumpie from the other day. I put them in my app and I compare to the ones I took when pregnant with my son. Is that sad? Ha ha

BS9790 · 14/05/2020 14:13

I'm 16 weeks and no bump at all. I could say I have one if I wanted lol but it's just bloat...not baby.

I spoke to my midwife today, my next appt will be in July and she thinks this will still be over the phone. She thinks maternity services won't lift restrictions for a long time

FireflyGirl · 14/05/2020 17:05

I can't compare, @BecsterG. Because I'd had a MMC before DS, I spent the whole pregnancy in denial and didn't take any bump photos. It's one of my big regrets now.

This was my 9 week bump and 14 weeks - sorry for the partial nudity Blush Because I'm short and have a curved lower back it was really obvious really early.

Zoey36 · 14/05/2020 17:46

I do have a bump. If I'm lying down in bed then my fat belly is flatter due to gravity and you can see a proper bump forming. Bit I'm just fat so can't see a defined bump when standing. My tummy muscles never closed to leas than 4 fingers after my first (I know I should have done something about this but I couldn't be bothered 😂🤦🏼‍♀️) so I wonder if that has made a difference this time. My actual bump is similar to last time but I feel like all my other insides have moved out and so I do look pretty preggo in certain clothes but it's not all bump!!!

BecsterG · 14/05/2020 19:15

Lovely bump @FireflyGirl !

OP posts:
MilsCookie · 14/05/2020 19:42

Ohhhhhhhhh look at all these gorgeous bumps!! Hope I get to have a bump this time round haha.

@BS9790 I've heard your bump might show less if your uterus is tilted? Do you know anything about yours? I know that mine is anteverted so might make a difference to bump size but I don't know... Haven't you got another scan before that midwife appointment?

BS9790 · 14/05/2020 19:55

@MilsCookie, yes I have my 20 week scan in June, but judging by what midwife said it will still be no partners allowed. Although I have just seen on another thread that someones local maternity hospital is now allowing 1 guest to scans! So still keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, my uterus is retroverted, so tips towards my back, plus I am 5ft10.
Tbh I have read that for first time mums not having a bump until 20+ weeks is normal so I'm trying to focus on that!! X

Zoey36 · 14/05/2020 20:01

@BS9790 I only had a recognisable bump at around 28 weeks with my first and that was only when wearing something like a tight vest top. But then I grew sooooo fast! And I didn't have a retroverted uterus. I wasn't fat, super toned or anything....just didn't get that bump for so long!

BecsterG · 14/05/2020 21:03

@BS9790 that's definitely true. I was maybe 24+ weeks when I popped with my DS! Less muscles to hold it in the second time round.

TerribleImagination · 14/05/2020 21:09

I’m so bloated it looks like I’ve got a bump, but it’s just air and water 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

FireflyGirl · 14/05/2020 21:19

I was early showing even with DS, I think it's just my build.

You can see from the photos that my bump starts by sticking out at the bottom, so I look pudgy (I mean, I am pudgy, but I carry my weight on my bum and thighs, my tummy's always been quite flat), and then it gets higher as my uterus pushes all of those other pesky organs out of the way.

You'll get your bump soon, @MilsCookie. Then you'll be complaining because you haven't seen your lady parts feet in a while and can't shave your legs 😂

20 weeks-ish is normal, @BS9790, and as you're tall you might not get much of a bump anyway. There was a lady in my NCT group who was 6 foot and she literally looked like she'd just shoved a football up her jumper, it was so cute.

@Zoey36 I can feel my insides rearranging themselves as I move from laying down to sitting/standing. It's utterly bizarre...

Whiffle77 · 14/05/2020 21:30

I was thinking today I look bumpy but I'm only ten weeks, a lot of it is pudge and bloat but it really looks like a bump! I'm tall and chunky though so I wouldn't expect to look like I had a bump for awhile, but I think I will start taking weekly pics from tomorrow when I turn 11 weeks.
Wow @fireflygirl that sounds very strange, it must feel so weird!!

Sparkl · 14/05/2020 22:22

I love these bumps! Gorgeous. Makes it all so real too. I was actually trying to feel for one yesterday 😆

I’m hoping you’re right @FireflyGirl @BecsterG! Will try to enjoy the minimal symptoms. With my dd I didn’t have nausea until about 16wks and it was very little, just in the evenings and was probably more tiredness than anything. So maybe the same this time round.

@MilsCookie I’ve got my booking in and scan on 26th June. Seems so far away! Undecided about a private scan before that. I have this weird hang up that if I were to get bad news I would want to be in the hospital. Really don’t know why, it makes no sense I know. And I don’t think I can last until the end of June!

Sparkl · 14/05/2020 22:25

@BecsterG not sad at all! I wish I had taken more the first time around! And could remember more... serious amnesia around the whole thing for some reason. Baby brain maybe 😅

TerribleImagination · 15/05/2020 09:11

Morning! 👋🏻 how’s everyone doing today?

I’m 6 weeks today!! So happy to get to this little mini milestone! I’ve booked my early scan this morning for exactly 2 weeks today! Can I just go to sleep and wake up in 2 weeks time please?? 😂

MilsCookie · 15/05/2020 10:37

@FireflyGirl LOL!!! I actually can't wait not to be able to shave my legs - got a great excuse then hahahaha! (I mean... I don't shave my legs at the best of times anyway....hahaha soz I'm really gross! Grin)

@TerribleImagination congrats on reaching 6 weeeeeeeeeeks!!! Grin

@ChampooPapi how are you doing lovely? x
