Hi Ladies, hoping you all can join soon. The TTC (trying to conceive) after MC (miscarriage) January group have been so supportive I hope we can keep it up for those who have BFP (big fat positive).

I just wish they were stronger and more consistent. But yes you’re right I need to focus on my healthy scan and just take each day as it comes before next Wednesday. Thanks @whiffle77 x

BS9790 · 16/04/2020 11:40

Back from scan, everything is fine and measuring exactly at the dates I thought I was.
I have a tilted uterus and the first thing she said to me in the scan was "I can't see anything"... Nearly had a breakdown. She then after said it was due to a full bladder and to go for a bit of a wee!! Had to do this 3 times, before she got to see what she needed.
I got to see the screen for around 5 seconds. My pictures arent clear, she apologised for this saying it was because of my tilted uterus. So I feel really bad for DH as this is all he gets to see. I find it strange that I've had early abdo scans at 7/9 weeks and on both of these they could easily clearly see the baby.

Tbh I found the whole thing very rushed and it wasn't the experience I hoped it would be! But on the plus side... Everything is OK with jellybean so that's all what matters x

BecsterG · 16/04/2020 12:22

@BS9790 that's greet everything is good with the baby although sorry you didn't have a good experience of it. My dating scan images weren't that clear either but hoping for some clearer ones at my 20 weeks scan. The internal scans at the early scans were really clear but I guess it was because it was an internal scan.

Hopefully it's given you the reassurance you needed to relax a bit.

@BecsterG thanks for your lovely words, really reassuring. as you said realistically i'm just going to be a bag of nerves before every scan. I just desperately want to get to my second trimester. But all i can do is try and focus on each day as it comes and hope for the best for next week x

@BS9790 congratulations on your scan although I'm sorry it wasn't the experience you had hoped for. x

BecsterG · 16/04/2020 12:55

@Shefflin124 not at all I was exactly the same. It moved so slowly and I couldn't wait to be in the second trimester but all of a sudden I'm almost 17 weeks so you will get there. As you say one day and week at a time.

X

I keep forgetting you're 6 weeks ahead of me, @BecsterG, and then get really excited for you Grin

Welcome @Shefflin124. I'm 11 weeks, and this time is reeeeaaaaallly dragging. Because of my previous losses, I'm just thinking of this period as being pregnant, but not that there's a baby, iyswim. After the dating scan, I might accept we may have a baby at the end of this and it'll soon pass from then, I'm sure.

Fingers crossed for your scan next week.

Glad all was okay yesterday @BS9790. Another hurdle over.

Whiffle77 · 17/04/2020 08:54

Time is dragging for me too! But today I have made it to 7 weeks 🤞 will be happier to get passed 8 weeks but this is still a win, just trying to count each day

BecsterG · 17/04/2020 13:00

@FireflyGirl when is your dating scan? Can't be too long now.

The waiting in pregnancy really does drag. With my son I only really experienced it for the first 13 weeks but I was naive back then.

FireflyGirl · 17/04/2020 13:26

30th, so just under 2 weeks. Feels like forever... Grin

I looked at a private scan, but most places are closed so I couldn't get an appointment until 26th - seemed a bit pointless. If everything goes well on 30th, I'll then book a private one so DH can attend.

BecsterG · 17/04/2020 15:23

That's not too long! Fingers crossed all is well.
My 20 week scan is on 7th so 3 weeks yesterday. Nervous but can't wait too. Like you I looked at a private scan but can only get one a few days before and my husband wouldn't be able to come anyway as he'd need to look after our son. Oh well.

I have a heart shaped uterus so have been told I'll get a few more scans so hopefully by then things will have settled down and he can come.

We also want to find out the sex (if all goes well) and I'm nervous it will be wrong so wanted another to confirm it. Grin

Ooo what happened in our chat?

BS9790 · 18/04/2020 16:48

We ordered a couple of little bits today, just some plain white vests, muslins and a pack of babygrows from next!!! I just wanted to feel excited about it for once!

We have booked a private scan for when I'll be 16+5, so my DH can come too... hopefully we can find out the gender together!

BecsterG · 18/04/2020 18:34

@BS9790 cute! I was going to do that so my DH could be there but sadly because of lockdown he would have to stay at home with our son. Oh well.

I had a call from the hospital yesterday to down grade me from an amber pathway to green as consultant doesn't think I'm a risk and it keeps me out the hospital. It means I don't get my appointment next week so I'll be 22 weeks when I have my first appointment since my booking one. I think they're cancelling all unnecessary appointments. So last night I decided to get my Doppler out which was probably pretty silly but I found the babies heartbeat so feeling less anxious in my wait for my scan.

BS9790 · 18/04/2020 21:04

@BecsterG how many weeks are you now? I would like a doppler due to not seeing midwife but wasn't sure if it would add to my anxiety!
I've been told by midwife that they aren't doing 15wk appointments at all now... Even by phone. So I won't see midwife til 24 weeks.
At clinic after my scan I was told I'd been changed from midwife led care to shared care, which means I have to see the consultant. This will initially be a phone appt next Friday, not sure where it will go from there!

BecsterG · 18/04/2020 21:12

@BS9790 I'm 17 weeks now. I would have been almost 18 weeks for my midwife appointment but I guess I'll be waiting until 22 weeks now. I don't mind as long as I get my appointments.

I was worried with my DS about the Doppler but used it later on. It's really early to be using one as most hospitals don't try at 16 weeks I don't think but I was expecting to find nothing but I was surprised to hear it. I'd not recommend it so early as you're right it would maybe add to your anxiety.

OP posts:
BS9790 · 18/04/2020 21:18

@BecsterG, yes my uterus is really far tipped back aswell so I don't think I'd hear it for while. I think it can take a while for it to "pop up" when it's so far tilted.
Maybe I'll look into one for the later stages of the pregnancy 😊

Oh wow 17 weeks!!
Yes, I don't mind either as long as all the checks that need to be done get done!

BecsterG · 18/04/2020 21:21

I definitely wouldn't if I was you @BS9790. Just wait until later on. I thought about it for ages when I was pregnant with my son as was worried I'd be anxious.

Less than 3 weeks to go until my scan. Really hope it doesn't drag. X

OP posts:
BS9790 · 18/04/2020 22:12

@BecsterG hope it comes around quickly for you! X

FireflyGirl · 21/04/2020 22:19

How's everyone getting on?

I found my Doppler from DS in with my maternity stuff, so DH and I had a play with it and we found baby's heartbeat (and mine, thankfully Wink) 💓

I'm 11+5, and my dating scan is next week, but this has given me a bit of peace of mind until then.

AlviesMam · 22/04/2020 08:35

Had my 12 week scan and all was ok Grin
Had some very light brown spotting a few hours after the scan, rang epu they weren't worried and said to ignore it.
Could the pressure from the probe on my stomach cause spotting? She did dig really hard. Just weird it's happened after my scan!
It's basically stopped now but still feel unsettled x

Zoey36 · 22/04/2020 09:30

@AlviesMam I had exactly the same thing with my first pregnancy. I assumed it was from the rough handling in the scan - they pushed so hard it really hurt!

AlviesMam · 22/04/2020 09:32

@Zoey36 did you spot after? X

Zoey36 · 22/04/2020 09:58

Yeah not blood but like a brown discharge.Just for that day I think.

AlviesMam · 22/04/2020 10:01

@Zoey36 that's made me feel much better! Mine is literally just brown spotting when i wipe! Rang midwife for a second opinion too and she wasn't concerned at all, infact she was abit rude to me!
Thanks for replying to me Grinxx
