Exactly that really... I'm 29 weeks and wondering when to start packing my hospital bag?

I packed mine about 34 weeks and now 36 weeks. A friend ended up with an emergency section at 34 weeks, which made me want to try and get everything ready a bit early!

Ergh.

I was warned by many people about their babies arriving as early 32 weeks. Eventually packed it, at DH's urging, at about 38 weeks or so. Still keep thinking of things to add to it now at 39+3.

There is a massive 24 hour supermarket near the hospital though, so I figure I can send DH out for anything we forget.

Packed mine at 35 weeks as we went away for the weekend. Probably would have been a couple of weeks later without the trip away.

The day before I was induced at 37 weeks. Had stuff piled in a corner for a week or two.

Baby's bag was packed a couple of weeks ago (I'm 35 now).
I've been adding small bits to mine as I go, only just yesterday bought some massive pants and maternity crop tops to go in and still have some clothes I need to iron to pop in too.
I did pass out the other day and was rushed in with the paramedic kindly mentioning theatre to me so it kicked my bum a bit to start finalising it as realistically he could come any time!

I slowly packed mine from about 31 weeks. A friend of mine went into labour at 35 weeks with nothing packed which made me realise I'd rather have it done too soon than too late!

I packed at 32 weeks because of placenta previa but that cleared away so now I'm 38 weeks with no idea what's in the bag!

If you're a first time mum I advise taking a bag bigger than you'd expect to need. I packed a weekend's bag first time round and ended up adding so much that my husband was lugging 3 separate bags around.
This time it's a wheely case!

I would advise packing it now. Even in the worst case scenario, at this stage you will need to deliver your baby and have everything to hand.

34 weeks, but I was travelling for work for a week after that and needed my bag packed in case dp ended up having to travel to meet me somewhere if dd decided to make an early appearance, luckily she didnt!

I started packing mine at 24 weeks. Not baby's thou, only mine. This is my 4th baby and I know I ended up a few times in hospital for the last two, just want to make sure stuff I would need is all in one place if needed. I will slowly pack baby's bag after 32 weeks, but not in a rush as I know if baby is born that early doesn't really need the stuff I will pack now.

37 weeks because we moved house and I knew I’d never find what I needed if I didn’t pack before the move.

Dyra · 18/01/2020 13:24

I never got the opportunity to pack mine. Admitted to hospital at 36+1, when I was planning on packing it at 36+3, and they weren't too keen on letting me go home to sort it out. Wound up packing it via instructions given to DH, which is something I do not advise....

Never getting caught out like that again. I'm having one packed before 30 weeks if I ever do it again.

I'm 31 weeks and slowly packing mine but by bit. Essentials for baby are in and some bits for me
