Hi everyone. Have just come back from my 20wk scan where, thankfully, everything was fine. But the little so and so was wriggling around so much that the sonographer would only commit to 70% girl. Now I don't know whether to book a gender scan or what. I really don't think I have the patience to wait, silly as it sounds.

It's trivial, I know, but what would you do?

Depends entirely on how much you want to know!

With my first, the hospital wouldnt tell you so we paid to find out.
But I am very impatient.

If you have a spare £200 quid then (a) can I have some and (b) you could pay for the blood test and find out for sure...

I desperately want to know!

If I were to book a private scan, do they just keep trying until they can see or what happens?

My friend had probs with her pregnancy and had lots of very detailed scans throughout. each time she was told she was having a boy. She delivered a girl much to the complete and utter shock of herself and dp!

Hmm, if you really can't wait the book another scan!
I am 23 weeks and my LO had its legs crossed at the ankles so the sonographer could not be sure but she said it looks most likely to be a girl - I would rather she had said she didn't know!!! Not knowing is definitely better than possibly knowing I think!
DH doesn't want another scan, he is convinced it is a girl so no need for one - I cannot think of it as a girl yet though in case 'she' was hiding something behind those crossed legs and is in fact a he!

{grin] so glad the scan went well, it must be a big relief, mine is next Tues

If you really want to know and can afford one, both the gender scan, I perosnally want a surprise but this is my first and I just want a baby

apologies for the bad grammer and spelling

They'll generally keep trying two or three times with a private gender scan, I think -- but sometimes the baby still isn't cooperating. If you really have to know (I sympathise; I think I'd be the same way) then I think the blood test is the way to go.
