Cervical length advice please

Hoping for some advice or any experiences of others please.

I've had 2 preterm labours, my last at 28 weeks.

I'm 17 weeks pregnant now and had a cervical scan yesterday which measured me at 28mm. I was told that 25mm was when they would seek action.

But 28mm still seems on the short side though, especially considering my history.

Hi - are you seeing a high risk team due to your history? I think I would want to discuss a cerclage and/or progesterone with a consultant in your position, and to do so in the next few days for my peace of mind. If you would want to get a private and/or second opinion, I know that Nick Wales in London is a specialist in this area. Sending a handhold - most people with a shortened cervix do not go on to labour early but I completely understand why you are so concerned.

Presumably you'll be having another cervical length check at your 20wk scan?

JJTWhite · 18/01/2020 06:18

I’m in the same boat, and will be having another cervical length check at 20weeks then the consultant will be seeing me again to discuss. Hoping to have my care transferred back to the midwife. They talked about putting a stitch in if necessary and a possible test (can’t remember name) to check for preterm labour.

Thank you for your replies.

I have seen my consultant twice now @BottomleyPottsSpots2 and she has left me so confused. The first time she said expect this baby before 28 weeks and I will need another section considering how, at most, it will be 11 months since my EMCS. But at her next one she said I'll make it to term and would be an ideal candidate for a VBAC

Having another one at 19 weeks (a week before the 20 week scan) @Twittlebee

Yes my MW did discuss that with my after the scan actually @JJTWhite (she came with me to the scan) and I do have another one in 2 weeks. Hopefully you will be all okay.

I kind of just want the stitch in now, as a preventative measure rather than waiting to see if it gets any shorter
