Buying nursery furniture? Please avoid this company - it's a scam!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post on here to warn other mummys to be of a company that is scamming hundreds of people!

A few months ago we bought some nursery furniture from 'The Baby Room' they are apparently based in Leeds.

If there's anyone out there that is lured in by their false advertising and fake prices PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Save yourself the time, stress and aggravation and buy elsewhere!

They originally promised the goods would be delivered via DPD on a particular date. The day came and we hadn't heard anything, I tried calling...no answer so emailed. They replied and said they hadn't received the good from the manufacturer so will be back in touch once it has arrived.

The goods never arrived and despite chasing multiple times didn't hear anything back. I then got an email saying the order had been cancelled with no explanation, nor information on when I would receive a refund??

Two months on, they have cancelled the order and still waiting on a refund whilst they ignore any emails.

When we started to do a bit of digging and there is bad review after bad review of hundreds of people facing the exact same problem - Had their money taken off them by scam artists!

We have reported The Baby room to trading standards and action fraud and they are currently being investigated by the local council.

If anyone else is reading this and is in the same boat as us (which by reading the review they are) Please report them! The baby room is registered under:

Did you pay by credit card? If so, you could claim from them?

Looking at their accounts for year end Mar 19 it looks like they have plenty of money in the bank. Also have 25 employees according to their submitted accounts. So maybe not a scam but a very badly run company.

That’s terrible. I also heard bad things so I didn’t order directly from them, and instead got John Lewis to price match so I got the discount but the security of going through John Lewis. I really hope you get your money back :(

I ordered from them as was the only place that had what I wanted discounted. JL didn't sell the item so couldn't price match. I saw all the terrible reviews so decided to use that 'Klarna' where you don't pay until after you've got it. Item arrived two days later. Had me thinking that if you pay with your own money they stall giving the goods whereas if with a credit agency they have to send it you. Hope you manage to sort it.

I have had exactly same prob today. Bank said it’s a scam. Website is gone and emails bounce back. Call your banks fraud team. We got our money back within hours

I think I have used them before, I ordered a tripp trapp high chair with a tray. The high chair turned up but they didn't dispatch the tray until much later, and I think I might have ordered a harness too that they didn't have so they just cancelled that part of the order. To be fair to them the order did turn up, they were just a bit useless. So not a scam but perhaps they're overtrading and getting themselves into a mess?

Thanks for your comments! Currently waiting on a refund via the chargeback scheme! Spoken to so many people who are in the same boat :(

Yes the more people that report them to action fraud the better! The websites been taken down and all the review site so hopefully something is finally being done about them!
