Tummy cramps in early pregnancy

Hi everyone,
I found out last weekend that after over 2 years of trying to conceive our first baby and we have finally done it yay.
Although I am now a nervous wreck. I am about 6 weeks pregnant and have lots of signs and symptoms already which I was shocked about!!
I have a lot of tummy ache and back ache and and lower tummy pain. I done some research and most sites say it’s normal but some obviously point out other factors such as ectopic pregnancy etc. I am so worried about this and am finding it hard to be happy when I constantly worry at every ache, cramp or pinch!!
The dr said unless I’m bent over in agony or bleeding then not to worry but I just can’t help my self.
Any advice, help or reassurance would be greatly appreciatedSmile

I had period like cramps from 5-11 weeks. Had some spotting too. Had my 13 week scan on Monday and baby is fine :)

Hi I'm getting some cramping too. I'm 5 weeks and a bit. It's mostly at night and not like period cramps at all, very mild by comparison. I'm worried too but fingers crossed we're both good!
Afraid I can't give much reassurance other than I've had a miscarriage before and it didn't start with cramps. It started with blood. Also I didn't get cramps like this early on in the pregnancy (lost the last pregnancy at 10 weeks).

I'm also getting other weird symptoms like one warm boob, being really thirsty, peeing constantly and just not feeling hungry at all. And sometimes a little bit of pee comes out when I least suspect it!

It's tough when you don't get the classic vomitting isn't it? But I think even if my boobs were sore and I was puking like clockwork I'd still be worried. It's ok to be worried after trying for so long. Just try to find some ways to calm yourself and ignore it all a bit. There's not much we can do til we get to our scans. I wish you all of the luck!

From about 4 weeks I had period pain like cramps for a few weeks.
I read it's our body's making the adjustments and new growth it needs.

I have an amazing 2 year old!

Good luck to all you new mums to be and take vitamins!

Had period cramps on and off since I am pregnant and I am 11 weeks now. Its completely normal

Mummy2be20 · 18/01/2020 07:20

I guess all of the cramps and stuff is pretty normal. You look it up online to check whether it's normal and then always get the worst! I don't know why I haven't learnt that by now.
My pains were more to my left side (I get twingey pains on my left lower side when I'm on my period and ovulating) so its pretty standard for me, just made me worry because of the horror story's of ectopic pregnancy. I am now slightly tender on the left but mainly all over plus my back has been really sore the last couple of day so obviously I began to stress again.
I have really sore boobs and have had for the last 2/3 weeks, I am also not that hungry and then I'll suddenly make myself eat something little and just carry on eating, I have also been drinking tones!!

Thank you for your reassurance guys, it's always nice knowing there are other people going through the same as you!! Fingers crossed we all start to feel a little better and can start enjoying our pregnancies!

I can't wait till my first midwife appointment in a week and my first scan just for peace of mind

I had so many cramps. They were awful at times. Congratulations!

Hodge85 · 18/01/2020 07:39

When I was 6 weeks I had one full day of awful period like cramps, so much so I had to take pain relief. I was really worried. I'm 19 weeks now though with a lovely wriggly little boy Grin Good luck you'll be fine although the worrying never goes away Hmm I suspect this is the start of being a mother hehe xx

Mummy2be20 · 18/01/2020 07:59

Owh ladies thank you!! @Hodge85 and @Bitofnamechanging
I took pain relief last night but you just never know how much pain it actually is or whether it's you making it worse by worrying as well.

I can't express how great full I am and how much I want to be excited!! We are off on holiday in 3 weeks so hopefully once I have had my first mw appointment I can go and relax and have a nice time!!

Hi!!

I'm 15 weeks now and all throughout the first trimester I had awful stomach and backache. I had pain to the side and was worrying about everything from miscarriage to eptopic pregnancy! I even rang the emergency midwife in tears one night!!

I had my scan and there was my baby with its heart ticking away and everything was fine!

So many people will tell you this but it IS normal. Everything's stretching, you're probably a bit gassy and bloated and everything combined can cause really severe stomach cramps!

Some hospitals allow you to book an early reassurance scan - look into this if you think it might help but your mind at ease but honestly from my own experience it's completely normal xx

Mummy2be20 · 18/01/2020 10:49

@CMBABYx what a relief!! I have also been stressing about miscarriage & ectopic pregnancy!!
That's the sign to look out for one sided pain etc so I've been a nervous wreck!!
I was wondering whether gas, bloating, being hungry and not realising all makes your tummy hurt normally so was thinking that!
That's really made me feel a bit better knowing you had the same and you are now at 15 weeks :) thank you!!

It sounds so cliche but you'll honestly get aches and pains everywhere!! Your toilet habits change a lot when you're pregnant because of hormones and this can have a huge effect! Have a warm (not hot) bath and try have a couple of days eating foods that don't make you bloat and it will make the world of difference I promise you!! Xx

Mummy2be20 · 18/01/2020 12:12

Everywhere has hurt so far haha, tummy, back, tops of my legs!!
I need to try and do that! At the moment I haven't been feeling hungry so when I do want something to eat i always want carby rubbish!!
I have always been so healthy before I found out I was pregnant but now I just need to get back in to that!! Thank you so much @CMBABYx

CMBABYx · 18/01/2020 12:45

That was the same as me!! I just ate carbs and starchy food and it was the bloating causing the majority of the pain! I had a lot of sickness though so it was all I could stomach😂 it will make a big difference though trust me xx

Mummy2be20 · 18/01/2020 18:30

@CMBABYx it's awful isn't it haha, I have a conscious realisation that I'm going to regret unnecessary weight gain once I start to show!!
Need to get back to healthy eating and not so much rubbish food! 😂
Fingers crossed sickness hasn't affected me, feeling nauseas but not physically throwing up!!

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well.!
Quick and unpleasant question...:

I have spoken to a midwife as well but wanted fellow pregnant ladies to help too.. I am 14 weeks and have just noticed thick stretchy like discharge/mucus in my underwear. It has scared me majorly and wondering if anyone else has seen this or has any advice?
The midwife said it could be anything but as I'm not bleeding and am not in agony it shouldn't be anything sinister.
I have tummy cramps but only mild low down ones (stretching and pulling) x

MUMMA2BEX · 14/03/2020 19:56

@mummy2be20 extra discharge is normal!!!

Mummy2be20 · 15/03/2020 08:37

@MUMMA2BEX thank you for getting back to me, I thought it was it was just the difference in it compared to the usual stuff.
How far are you now?
