Morning all. I'm 39+1 today (can we just do this now, please, baby?!) and I've suddenly started waking up with very sore, stiff hands. Is this carpal tunnel syndrome, or something I should call the midwife about?

Thanks.

It sounds like carpal tunnel. I had this from about 35 weeks and would wake up with sore, stiff claw hands and sore wrists. The midwife told me to see the gp who confirmed the diagnosis and gave me wrist/hand splints to wear at night which really helped but thats only because he had some in the office anyway. Maybe pop in to your local pharmacy and see if they have some wrist supports and which ones they suggest. Mine went down my forearm and up over my hand which a space for my thumb to poke out.

I had this, tried the supports etc but nothing worked. It disappeared within a week of giving birth so hopefully it does for you too.

I have that syndrome as well, 38 weeks now, in the morning and overnight is a bit worse but nothing to worry about during the day
