Bad luck?

What's everyone's thoughts on having the pram/crib etc in the house too early?

I've always thought it was meant to be 'bad luck' but my boyfriend thinks I'm being silly..

I want to leave the big stuff at my mums house like the pram and crib but he wants to bring it home

I had most of the equipment ready, but covered it up (didn’t want it getting dusty) didn’t decorate until baby was born though.

I personally think it’s fine but I’m not a great believer in superstitions. I’d rather be as prepared as I can be for the arrival of the baby.

My MIL however is refusing to hand over anything currently stored in her house until the baby is born Hmm

My mum has always said that it's bad luck even the other day she told me not to buy stuff yet as I was saying end of the month pay day I would start getting bits and she annoyed me with oh don't be buying stuff yet it to early I said I'll be 5 months and I need to get things each months so it's not a big mad dash.... I have brought my Moses basket bargain in Aldi £30 with the stand but that is at my sisters house just because she picked it up for me. I think what's meant to be will be regardless if it in your home or not but I do understand not wanting to have the main things pram, cot etc

I’ve never heard of this superstition, so safe to say I brought everything in the house before the baby arrived.

I don't believe in superstitions generally, and I don't like this one in particular. I don't have family where I can just leave all the baby stuff at their house and I wouldn't want to put on them. I don't want to be faffing around when the baby is born trying to collect things or having to buy things because I had waited. Ididn't buy things the moment I found out I was pregnant. I waited to check things were okay at the 20 week scan. But I have most things now I am nearly 34 weeks - the baby could turn up early. I'd hate to think someone would worry about this or feel guilty/scared because they had to keep stuff in the house because they didn't have other options.

I didn't have the pram in the house till dd was born.
Didn't decorate the nursery.

My mum was exactly the same about not having the pram in the house. They've just dropped it off today and I'm very nearly 36 weeks. It's a good job as we've spent this evening putting it together. We've probably had everything else ready since new year but it's been really helpful to have a go at everything before we're trying to do it with a newborn.
