How did labour start for you?

I'm 36+2 but in going out of my mind overthinking every twinge, cramp, pain and feeling I have, and I know I still have a little while to go yet potentially!

So did it start with with contractions or waters going, or a show for you? Or did you have any other symptoms that you knew labour was on it's way?

My water actually broke in wilkos when I was buying some curtains

First time, it felt like period pains that came back every 5 mins, then I had a show.
Second time, I woke up at 3am and someone had turned the hose pipe on from my chuff!! 😂 ruined the bed! Then my contractions started an hour later.
3rd time, I thought I had tummy ache because I needed a poo, so went to the loo and it passed. Then the pain came back and I caught myself in the mirror leaning on the bathroom sink deep breathing and I the penny dropped lol. She was born 2 hours later!
They were all really different x

First time mild pains in the morning ramping up during the afternoon and she was born evening, second my waters went with no other signs a week early while I was standing at the sink! Funny how many stories of that there are on this thread.

My waters broke with both dc. No signs beforehand.

Waters going first isn't rare but it isn't the usual first sign as seen on TV and films. It's the first sign in around 10% of pregnancies.

Baby 1 waters went, nothing for 4hrs, mild contractions for an hour then full on labour and baby born in 3 hrs after that

Baby 2 2 days of rock solid bump and discomfort, went to bed feeling shitty, woke up in night with contractions born 5 hrs later

Baby 3 woke up in morning with strong cramps which gradually developed into contractions, 6 hr labour

In each case i still wasn't definitely sure I was having contractions until they got regular as like you say there's so many pains and twinges in late pregnancy!

Waters broke like Niagara Falls on Thursday night. Baby born on Tuesday morning by c section.

Contractions for 2 while days.
No show as far as I know.
He was testing me so they burst the waters.

I went into the mat unit expecting to be checked over and sent home, I was taken to the delivery suite, ds arrived 15 minutes later, approx 25 minutes after my arrival at the hospital.

Whole and tearing

Sunday morning waters broke no contractions till Monday went into hospital where I was induced twice. Finally contractions started early hours of Tuesday about 2AM n baby born in 4-5 hours.

I had a SLOW labour. I started with a regular dull twinge, sort of a muscle spasm, in my lower back, every twenty minutes, on a Saturday morning . It was uncomfortable and pinged away, getting gradually more frequent all Saturday.
Rang the maternity unit on Saturday evening when they were 12 mins apart. The mw told me to try to get some sleep and come in when they were 8 mins apart. I lived an hour away by car. I got a few hours sleep, went to hospital on Sunday morning.
Pains were 5 mins apart when waters broke on Sunday lunchtime, and ds was born with the aid of forceps after a struggle, at 7.50 on Monday morning. I was knackered.😓

Each of my previous three pregnancies started with my waters going, then contractions started about 30 minutes after

Sorry if this is a silly question but what does it mean when you ladies say you had a show?
