When did you start to feel movements?

3rd baby for me but first anterior placenta. I'm 17+2 and sometimes I think I feel something but it's probably just gas!

I have anterior placenta. First movements I felt were at 20 weeks x

Persipan · 14/01/2020 20:07

At 18 weeks, like being pinged with a tiny elastic band.

Marlena1 · 14/01/2020 20:08

I had on my second. Was so worried at 20 weeks as couldnt feel a thing but all was fine.

IvinghoeBeacon · 14/01/2020 20:11

I could feel vague things from about 16 weeks I think (can’t quite remember, but this is my second so I already knew what a baby feels like) but by 20 weeks the movements were different from my first (posterior placenta that time) - much less distinct kicks and more tickles. A few weeks on and I’m getting plenty of strong boots

yesyesdear · 14/01/2020 20:12

21 weeks for me.

QforCucumber · 14/01/2020 20:12

I'm 19 weeks and nothing really yet

LittleTopic · 14/01/2020 20:12

21 weeks - nothing and then one massive kick which my mum saw from across the room!

Fantababy · 14/01/2020 20:13

I did with my second and felt the first kick at 17 weeks. 18 with DC1.

secretllama · 14/01/2020 20:13

18.5 weeks for me for unquestionable kicks. Was surprised when told at 20 week scan that placenta was anterior as I'd read so much suggesting I wouldnt feel it till closer to 24 weeks. x

MsChatterbox · 14/01/2020 20:26

Anterior placenta with both pregnancies. My first I felt at 15 weeks and hubby felt at 19 weeks. My second (current) I felt at 14 weeks, currently 16 weeks and feeling often. So I wouldn't discount what you are feelings it's very likely they are kicks!

Delbelleber · 14/01/2020 20:33

I'm 21weeks I've felt the baby move like twice and that's been in the last week. Just momentarily movement :(

Emberfoot · 14/01/2020 22:43

I'm 17wks with my first, I have felt a couple of movements but still no idea if it's baby or other gubbins moving about lol. Kind of a lil sad that other people have started feeling it properly and I may have to wait weeks. Plus side maybe my MIL will stop asking to touch my belly if I feel nothing 😂

Ellapaella · 14/01/2020 23:06

I had an anterior placenta with my third and I didn't feel much movement at all until around 21 weeks. With the first two (not anterior) it was a early as 16 weeks.

MadameGazelleIsMyHomegirl · 14/01/2020 23:10

I had an anterior placenta and felt movement at 9 weeks! Definite movement from that day onwards, which just got more and more lively!

Aisah · 15/01/2020 02:16

23 weeks and tbh the baby kicks when it wants and not that often

mistermagpie · 15/01/2020 08:41

With my third baby I had an anterior placenta and it was about 23 weeks before I felt anything. It had been much earlier with the previous two who weren't anterior placentas.

Reduced or infrequent movement was an issue throughout my pregnancy unfortunately and I was induced early as a result. I do think this was due to the placenta (and the fact that my baby turned out to be really chilled out!) but the Drs wouldn't take any chances.

Thanks for all your replies ladies, I posted this and then fell asleep- pregnancy eh?

Really interesting how you all vary so much with feeling movements for the first time. With my first two it was non stops kicks and wriggles from about 16 weeks which developed into alien belly with feet and hands sticking out all the time.
For me too pregnancy is an absolute chore and the movements are the one thing I enjoy about being pregnant so hopefully Ill feel some soon.
I've had a 12 week and 16 week scan and he was moving loads plus midwife found his heartbeat straight away yesterday so I know he's ok at least!

Mine was around 14 weeks but mine was low lying so I don’t know if that was a contributing factor

SnoozyLou · 15/01/2020 09:09

I'm just over 17 weeks and I've only started feeling movement in the last few days. It's really weird. A couple of times it's been really noticeable, to the point where I could feel it with my hand, and gone on for hours, then I'll have days of next to nothing, with the occasional nudge that's so faint I can't be sure if I'm imagining it. It must just be the position.

mistermagpie · 15/01/2020 09:16

I was the same, not a fan of pregnancy at all and I found the lack of movements in this last one very stressful and a bit disappointing, if that makes sense! The baby is wonderful though, so hang in there.

R2D2abc · 15/01/2020 09:23

4th baby, this is my first time with anterior placenta.

Around 17 I was feeling some bubbling, but rarely and wasn't sure about it. At 20 weeks they started to be more noticeable and could tell it's definitely baby. But I feel baby move on the lower side, left side and upper left side mostly. I don't feel almost anything in the middle of my belly or right side, where I guess the placenta is. 25 weeks now and movements are getting stronger but still not the same as with a posterior placenta.

Beseen19 · 15/01/2020 09:23

I felt little movements really early on but then nothing daily until around 20 weeks. And even after that if he was tucked right in to the placenta I couldn't feel it as much, was like a weird muffled kick. Focus on down really low and to the sides. As my uterus moved up obviously the placenta did too so there was a bit of a space for him to move where I could feel it.

fatisnotafeeling · 15/01/2020 09:24

I'm 26 weeks with number 4 and first anterior placenta. I think I felt him about 19 weeks ish. I feel him now but very low down and also feels like an elastic band pinging rather then proper kicks.

I am struggling this pregnancy with the seeming lack of movement and the strange kicks, sometimes he feels like his foot is going to come out he's so low down.
I'm looking forward to it being Over to be honest.

ILoveAnAgathaChristieMurder · 15/01/2020 09:28

I had anterior with 1st was nearly 24 weeks. And even after he was very sleepy and small movements. 2nd was posterior and I couldn't believe the difference much earlier 14 weeks and much more lively. Both of mine were smallish boys 5lb and 6 lb but at 5 and 3 they are not lacking in movement now

Engard · 15/01/2020 09:36

16 weeks with my second. Its bizarre, despite an anterior placenta I feel this baby much more than I did my first who had a posterior placenta!
