Vaginal Varicose Veins: Does anyone know anything about them??

I am 35 weeks pregnant and last week I was told I have varicose veins in my vulva. For what I´ve been reading they are very painful, but mine are not sore at all. Can that be right??
I am worried that they will rupture when in labour, or that that my OB will automatically make me have a c- section. Does anyone know anything about them? Thanks!!

Hi Bmama, yes I have them too and have done since around 20 weeks (am now 37 weeks with my second child). There are lots of threads about them on here, use the search function and look for vulval varicose vein.

Mine are quite sore and get worse the more I stand around. You are lucky if yours don't hurt- I thought something was seriously wrong with me! I have been assured that they do not affect labour, except if they are directly in the episiotomy area and an epi is necessary. Apparently they also go away after delivery (hope so because they are pretty disfiguring)

Hope that helps

Hi Bmama. I had whilst pg with my 3rd child.
The mw said they go after the birth and she was right they did sotry not to worry

I was concerned that mine would explode during labour as they really throbbed towards the end of the pregnancy! Didn't even think about them in labour (too much pain elsewhere!) and they felt better immediately after I had delivered, and disappeared within 2-3 weeks after the birth. Don't worry, they're grim, but they're not forever

I had a whopper when pg with my third and it disappeared after the birth (thank heavens - I felt disfigured!).
