Are you still classed as being on maternity leave during bank holidays?

or do the extra days acrue while your off?

I'm thinking if I'm canny I could use whats left of my holidays and the Christmas break so as I wouldn't have to start my maternity leave until the New Year but if the days acrue anyway I'll probably leave work ealier as I'll be 38 weeks by then and probably knackered.

I hope that makes scence, its very hard to put down on a post.

I'm sure that you acrue either all or some of the bank holidays that happen during your maternity leave. Is there someone at your work who you could ask?

Thanks Deb - yeah there is a woman in HR who I could ask but I try and avoid her as much as possible as I can't bear her. Thought I'd try here first as I know you lot are a mine of information

I think it's unlikely that you would accrue Bank Holidays as part of your leave entitlement, as they are counted seperately from regular leave. You must take them when they fall and they're not transferable.

Of course you will have to check for certain with the evil HR!

You accrue annual leave, but I certainly didn't get "credit" for bank holidays! I would be surprised if anyone did.

Probably not, but maybe it depends on what job you do. If you are salaried then prob not, but waged then maybe? I didnt get any bank holidays (am waged)...but I did get a lump sum for 6 months worth of accrued holiday pay! Nice surprise!

Most of you have said what I was thinking ahh well, I'll probably just check with HR anyway but it looks like I'll be working until beanie drops.

I don't think you get them extra to your ML - it is a fixed number of weeks
