Hi I'm 38+4. I saw my midwife for a regular check and she ended up sending me to the maternity ward to be checked over due to my trouble breathing and fainting.
When I got there they did loads of tests, x-ray, ECG, bloodwork, etc. And decided to keep me in over night. During the night I started having mild contractions at 1am and then by 4am was moved from observation to labour.
At the time I could still handle the pain so I wanted to refuse pain relief until they were a full 10. During the shift change the new midwife came in and said they still wanted me to do more tests because of my chest and breathing. I refused because my labour was picking up and the pain was almost to the point where I was about to ask for an epidural. And I didn't want to be taken into a busy main hospital while I was having contractions.
They left and came back and said I had to do the test and the porter was there to take me from labour to radiology. I was wheeled to radiology having contractions every 3 mins, crying from the pain and then once getting to the department told I needed to be injected with something that would help to show if there was a clot in my lungs. I then had to sit I front of the machine for longer because I couldn't stay still from the pain.
Afterwards I was wheeled back to labour and then the contractions completely stopped.
They then moved me back to observation because my water had not broken and they said they couldn't give me anything to help the contractions along. An hour later they discharged me and told me to wait until labour or my waters to break before I came back.
Sorry for the long story but my question is that is it normal for you to be in full labour and then contractions just stop?
For reference when they checked at 4am in the labour ward I was 4cm dilated and bub was fully engaged.
It's also been 2 days and nothing has happened. I've gone for walks, used a pregnancy ball, etc. Any advice how to get contractions going again.
