Anyone else had bleeding shown internally but no actual bleeding?

Hiya,

Just wondered if anyone else has similar.

I am 8 weeks and 6 days today and had a private scan last week at 7+4 (only discovered I was pregnant at the beginning of the week).

Scan showed baby measuring spot on and good heart beat etc - the sonographer said she could see a small bleed internally and asked if I had experienced any bleeding or spotting - i explained no i have nothing and she said it will probably be fine and my body will reabsorb the bleed and not to panic if I get any spotting.

From reading her scan report - nothing was mentioned about the bleed she spotted and now am spending everyday panicking that this means there is a problem/ that it is my fault as I didnt find out I was pregnant until later and therefore didny start on pregnancy vitamins/folic acid straight away

Yes I did and it was all ok but they told me to watch out for a bleed and not panic

Thankyou- that's really reassuring! Did your bleed disappear entirely? Sorry for the questions!

So when I went to the epu the sonographer told me (I had to have the early scan as I had been hospitalised 4 times for hyper emessi and they worried I was carrying 2 babies, I wasn't)
The sonographer there told me but did not write it down the same as you

Then I had a 10 week scan the sonographer firstly said he could see it, but then he said it's insignifcant and there's no reason why she should have told me as it would make me anxious .. he then told me the babies bowel was out side it's body and I panicked to Hugh heavens for that but it wasn't and it was fine..

12 week scan bowel in body and bleed gone

I did NOT bleed at any point in the pregnancy

So scary but babies are sticky little things and they cling on. They are fighters from the beginning and mothers are panicked. Sorry you feel worried, I cried so much about the bleed the first sonographer saw

I had a scan Thursday measuring 9+2 and was told the exact same thing. A small bleed between the sac and uterus. I've had no bleeding and she said it was common and not to worry - hard not to but nice reading other people have experienced the same thing.
Spoke to a midwife today who also didn't seem worried but did tell me to stop doing strenuous exercise and stick to light workouts.
Hope everything works out.

It's really scary I suppose it's because you here the words bleed and pregnancy and automatically assume the worst?! Fingers crossed for you as well!

I had one in 2 pregnancies which were both healthy.

It's called a subchorionic hematoma I think. Mine resolved by the 3rd tri with my first and remained until delivery with the other one.

Thankyou! Glad it all went well, our bodies are amazing and a mystery all at once!

Me too! I had a subchorionic haematoma (bleed under the placenta) in 2 pregnancies. The first 1 I did have some bleeding at 8-9w and they confirmed what it was at the episode. By the tone I went for my 12w scan it had resolved.

The second time I didn’t have any bleeding but they found it when I had my 20w scan which felt more scary! I had another scan at 33w and it had gone with no bleeding at all! They said I could have experienced some but the blood was just reabsorbed!

Both pregnancies resulted in healthy, full term baby girls!
Good luck op! I know it’s worrying but I think it’s relatively common and in the vast majority of cases it is totally fine!

Episode = scan!!

Jitterbugger · 11/01/2020 19:49

I had a subchorionic haematoma in my second pregnancy that the nurse could see (during my 7 week scan) and she asked whether I'd had any bleeding so far in the pregnancy. When I said no she seemed surprised and said that I might experience bleeding further down the line. I didn't have a single episode of bleeding during the pregnancy so I guess my body just absorbed it.

tessiegirl · 11/01/2020 19:54

I had this! I had a private scan at 15 weeks but had no bleeding. By the 20 week scan my body had reabsorbed the bleeding and there was no sign of it.
