Laying in bed next to my snoozing one year old and thinking about having a third child, but feeling too old at 37.

How old are other mums?

Thank you for all the responses. A wide range but lots of mums my age. It’s really reassuring as I keep going to the park and looking at all the young mums and feeling like the oldest there. This thread shows me it’s probably a bit in my head Grin

I had ds at 28, perfect for us.

Rosehip345 · 11/01/2020 09:39

I’m 32, expecting 4th.
All my friends are older than me and had their firsts at 32!
Interestingly I’m another who had my first at 26 because I was told I couldn’t conceive. I wouldn’t change it now but at the time it was a big deal

elliemcx · 11/01/2020 09:42

38 and first baby

toomuchteaandcake · 11/01/2020 09:48

33, FTM

fibeee · 11/01/2020 09:53

32 with my first but I’ll likely be 33 when baby arrives Grin

mumof1babe · 11/01/2020 09:54

I'm 23 and pregnant with my second, I was 20 when I got pregnant with my first and 21 when I delivered. Myself and husband wanted to have our kids young. I think it's such a personal decision for people what age they feel they want to have kids and obviously there can be struggles along the way at any age. Good luck to everyone with their pregnancies 💗

42 and on my 5th due September

pollysproggle · 11/01/2020 10:22

36, third baby. I'll be 37 a few weeks after birth.

rosieposies · 11/01/2020 10:25

Had my daughter when I was a week off 31 and will be trying again when I'm 32 in April.

I'd love to sneak a third in at 37ish (if I'm able to physically)

doadeer · 11/01/2020 10:49

Seems to depend a lot on your area.

WorldsOnFire · 11/01/2020 10:53

@NamiSwan

It’s weird isn’t it?
I feel like a bit of an odd end. Don’t really fit in with the ‘younger mum’ circle or the ‘30 something circle’ which are all my area seem to have 😂

DH and I knew we wanted a family but my lack of cycles and multiple tests/scans without explanation definitely impacted our timing.

We got the BFP within 5/6 weeks of trying but it was one of those, until you try you won’t know situations! I’d so much rather be here a little earlier than have waited and struggled.

piperk · 11/01/2020 11:39

This hits so many nerves with me. Why do we think like this. Too young, too old, too this that or the other. Angry the world is SO judgemental it drives me crazy that we actually waste time with these thoughts.

If you love your baby/babies and they are cared for properly who cares!? We have good health care and no you're not too old! Enjoy and feel blessed to even be able to consider conceiving.

(Sorry I'm having an emotional day) guess what I'm saying is you want one you go for it! Smile xx

Annafs · 11/01/2020 11:40

I’ll be 27 when I’m due and is my first. I’m Asian so for my family I’m extremely old to be having a babyGrin but for my friends/work colleagues I’m quite young.

My mum had me at 20 and my youngest sister at 40 and was fine with both of us. She had more energy with me but with the youngest had more stability, finances etc. So swings and roundabouts I reckon!

BluueVelvett · 11/01/2020 11:44

24! Was told I couldn't have children so it was a surprise, was going to wait to try IVF when I was older. Feeling very ready now though!

erised · 11/01/2020 11:45

30 and pregnant with my first (and last).

Fifteenthnamechange · 11/01/2020 11:47

I like this thread. I'm late 30s & contemplating a 3rd DC but my age puts me off. At the school gates everyone feels really young but I guess I'm still in the game.

WorldsOnFire · 11/01/2020 11:49

@piperk

I felt ‘young’ to be pregnant because there’s still things I want to do and it’s such a lot of responsibility. I think it’s actually got less to do with society than it does individual perception. Society didn’t tell me I should wait till my 30’s, Its just the done thing because of the experiences and lifestyle people want nowadays.

Society does make it financially difficult to have children younger though with childcare costs...etc. So I suppose in that sense it’s to blame.

gossipgirl28 · 11/01/2020 11:56

29 when I had my first. I'm now 30 and expecting my second

Helbelle17 · 11/01/2020 12:17

44 and 23 weeks pregnant. I had our first DD at 41 and miscarriages at 40 and 42.
Tried for a year for this one, so feeling very lucky.
I feel old at the moment, but only really because I've been ill, DD has chickenpox and my dad has had a stroke and we've been trying to sort out his finances and care home.
A lot of my friends had their children in their late 30s, early 40s, so I don't feel unusual.

Conniedescending · 11/01/2020 12:23

I'm 42 and have 10 week old - she's my 5th

ButterflyRuns · 11/01/2020 14:31

38 here, pregnant with twins (currently have no children) so definitely feel old too! That said, it’s pretty normal these days & I know plenty of young mothers in their early 40s.

Ers77 · 11/01/2020 17:57

43 next month, and 22 weeks along. We had our first at 39 and then a string of early losses. Fingers' crossed!

mrssunshinexxx · 11/01/2020 18:07

27 first baby
