They’re not really recommend OP due to the mould that can build up in the machine, there’s lots of info if you google.

The mould rumours haven’t been confirmed as far as I know - Tommee Tippee has said if you use their filters, not cheap ones, there are no issues at all with them.

patchworkelephant123 · 10/01/2020 21:32

Absolutely worth the money, best purchase I made. Every I know that's bottle fed has one

PrayingandHoping · 10/01/2020 21:33

Yep they are great. Mine is nearly 3 months old.
I use genuine filters, clean is regularly and take the back off to check the pipes and they are squeaky clean.

TwinMum89 · 10/01/2020 21:33

We have one which we have used with our twins. Great purchase, though I ensure it is cleaned and the filters changed in accordance with the instructions.

Thatsfinethenchick · 10/01/2020 21:34

Well worth the money (£60 in asda just now)
Yes, it works with any bottle. It’s amazing and agree with pp, just use the proper filters and open the back periodically to check for mould.

Mylo25 · 10/01/2020 21:34

100% best baby related purchase I've made

TeddyTeddy · 10/01/2020 21:36

Best thing you can buy - absolute game changer.

Mamasaurous · 10/01/2020 21:38

Ignore the mould scare stories - these were shown to be people not using proper filters but cheap knock off ones from China. If you use proper filters and change them when the light comes on it I’ll be grand. If worried you can take the back off to and see all pipes. This, white noise machine and jumperoo my top 3 baby buys!!!

Shantotto · 10/01/2020 21:38

Absolutely love ours - makes the pain of having to use formula when you didn’t plan to a little easier as it’s so easy! You won’t have problems with mould if you clean it regularly and use the correct filters.

Best purchase ever, you can get them cheaper than that too.. that’s a day and night one..: the only difference is the beeps are quieter / none at night... we’ve got a standard one and worth it’s weight in gold. Had one with DS four years ago and was a game changer..: then bought one for DD again this time around!
Our HV not midwife have never commented on ours, just follow the instructions and clean it regularly and the filters changed when it tells you too

bananasandwicheseveryday · 10/01/2020 21:40

DS and DIL had one for dgs. It was brilliant. I know they made sure they followed the instructions about the filters and cleaning. It was a real boon for us when we looked after dgs. U only wish they had been around when my dcs were little.

Namechanger212333333333 · 10/01/2020 21:41

This and Ewan were our best purchases

BlueCookieMonster · 10/01/2020 21:43

I’m still not convinced by the thing, there are also concerns that the ‘hot shot’ isn’t hot enough to kill the bacteria in the formula. It’s enough to make me wary, but I know people who’ve used one with no ill effect.

anascrecca · 10/01/2020 21:43

The problem isn't the mould , it's that for bigger feeds, the volume of hot water used doesn't meet safe formula preparation guidelines in order to kill all the bacteria present in the powder. See first steps nutrition trust website for more info.

Xyzzzzz · 10/01/2020 21:46

I got one and never used it

Beach11 · 10/01/2020 21:48

I had one for both dc, best purchase made. Even took it abroad with us.
Never had any issues with mould etc or dc having upset bellies. I always used the official filters and cleaned v regularly.

20viona · 10/01/2020 21:50

Best purchase ever if you're bottle feeding. Yes works with any bottles.

Snowflake9 · 10/01/2020 22:01

Best thing I ever bought. I had to stop BF and managed warming bottles for about half a day before I ordered from Amazon!

With regular cleaning it will be fine.

strawberry2017 · 10/01/2020 22:08

Amazing product! Life saver if you ask me.
I didn't use Tommy Tippee bottles on mine it works with others.
Use the right filters, follow the cleaning instructions and you won't look back! X

PrayingandHoping · 10/01/2020 22:16

I heard the hot shot worries too. I stuck a probe in it. It was just under 80 degrees C. Well over the recommended 70 degrees.

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 10/01/2020 22:17

Don't know the answer to question 2 but this is the one thing I could not have lived without. I think it was only £65 odd when I bought mine a couple of years ago but I would have paid 5 times that, it is that good.

I managed to sell mine a few months ago for £25 so my £40 was very very well spent!

Goldenmother · 10/01/2020 22:18

Great thank you all I'll definitely be purchasing one

Save your money!! Just keep a jug of fresh cooled boiled water in the fridge. Mix the formula with fresh hot boiled water and top up with the cold water. They are really nasty machines in terms of germs and hard to clean.

ConfidingFish · 10/01/2020 22:47

Hoolah have you owned a tommy-tippee milk prep machine?

My children are teens, we never had this but my SIL has serious OCD re hygiene and she had one when her baby was born a few years ago. She regularly took it apart to check for mould etc but never found any. She followed the instructions to the letter, used the recommended filters etc.

It is a great machine for when you have been woken in the middle of night and don't want to have to squint at measurements on a bottle.

If I were having a baby now it would be on my list.
