What do stretching pains and round ligament pain really feel like?

Hiya,

I've written a few posts about having a short cervix and cervical stitch but have had no response so I'm assuming no one else on mumsnet has ever had a cervical stitch!
I've been to the Dr's and have had the stitch and cervix checked and all is ok, I have been getting constant period like cramps for 5 days now and sometimes followed by discharge, dr and midwife said it could be stretching or round ligament pain, what do those pains feel like? Do they feel like cramps or actual stretching?

X

Felt like actual stretching/really bad tummy ache but lower

goforit99 · 10/01/2020 18:04

@blueskiesbrighteyes thank you for your response, stomach ache like you've eaten something bad? Just trying to really understand what they are like as some have said cramps and some have said actual stretching x

To me they felt like sharp stabbing pains and period pains. Not actual stretching.

goforit99 · 10/01/2020 18:05

@CupCupGoose thank you, were they constant? X

No not that kind of tummy ache. Hard to describe to be honest! It started on my way to work in the morning and I had to go home around 2 as I was in so much pain and went to hospital when DP got home. I was about the same stage as you but luckily only had that one episode x

@blueskiesbrighteyes thank you

Mine feel like being over-full or general stretching x

goforit99 · 10/01/2020 18:16

@Emberfoot thanks x
I get the very full feeling too, I just don't understand the cramps x

Personally not period pain type cramp. For me it was definitely at the side of my bump and like a stretchy, muscle feel. If you are not too flexible then try and touch your toes with your legs straight and if you stretch enough you'll get pain in the back of your knees or thighs... I would say it was a bit like that but at the side of bump.

goforit99 · 11/01/2020 00:59

@keha I know that pain, I get a milder version of that, just not sure why Dr's say cramping is growing/ stretching pain when cramps don't seem to be that common x

Felt like I'd been doing sit ups all night (obviously I hadn't!)

CupCupGoose · 11/01/2020 08:59

No mine aren't constant. I do get them most days though.

Keha · 11/01/2020 09:16

Mine wasn't constant either, it might be on movement or changing positions and then could stop pretty quickly as well. I would also say that because of being on certain contraception for years, I havent really had period pains or cramps for about a decade... Perhaps the pain I was feeling does feel like period cramps but I don't remember it very well. I also had some quite bad indigestion/constipation at times and that could feel a bit like crampy pain quite low down. Hope it goes away and/or you get an answer, and everything goes smoothly with your pregnancy.
