When did you see a heartbeat on early scan

I'm 7 weeks without adjusting for my cycle, 6+4 if I adjust. I've had some bleeding and am struggling a bit after having a TMFR this summer. I've got an EPU appointment on Tuesday morning and I'm working all weekend so no chance of having a scan. I'm wondering whether to book a private one tonight but worried it will be just too early and I'll waste £80. I had more bleeding this morning which was red but still not loads and I had similar with DS. Just at the end of my tether with the stress and waiting!

I had one at 7ish weeks and saw a heartbeat. People sneer at those who pay for early scans, but it put my mind at rest. Id do it.

For my first I had to have one around six weeks and there was one, I don't remember much to look at though

I didn’t have my early scan til 8+4 but I wish I had done it a little earlier as I was so stressed and it really put my mind at ease. I would say it is definitely worth doing for your peace of mind xx

I had scan at 7 weeks and saw it then. After 3 miscarriages I understand the desire not to wait and have no problem paying for early scans, but it isn't always possible to see it before 7 weeks. So if you are just under that consider how you will feel if you go and they can't find one. It might be worth waiting a couple of extra days to get a better answer.

I had an early scan at 6+1 but only because I hadn't accounted for my long cycle and went purely from LMP so thought I was further on than I was.
It was an internal scan and I got to hear the heartbeat, not just see it. It really put my mind at rest.

I have read others saying they didn't get a heartbeat (or even a fetal pole) till later though so would probably recommend waiting till at least 7 weeks to avoid any unnecessary distress x

I heard a heartbeat at exactly 6 weeks, went due to previous miscarriage and had some early spotting in this pregnancy.
Lots of people don't see it that early though so it may make you more anxious.

Thanks all. I think it's not worth £80 at this stage as if there isn't a heartbeat it will make me more anxious and after a TMFR I'm conscious that an early scan is only the first hurdle. I'll wait for my appointment on Tuesday and try to keep busy until then.

@Seahawk80 good luck! Let us know how you get on x

I had an abdominal one with the consultant I was under at 7+3 and could see the heartbeat really well then. I am not skinny by any means either!

Eggcellent29 · 10/01/2020 15:21

I first saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks 1 day :)
