Pregnancy vitamins

What vitamins do you guys all take? I’ve been taking pregnacare and they make me feel pretty rough. Also how long do you take them? Nearly 13 weeks now and just wondering if I take them the whole 9 months. Can anyone recommend any other vitamins that they have found don’t make them feel rough?
Thank you 😊

I took boots own version but you only really need vitamin d after 12 weeks if you have a balanced diet

Make sure you take them when you have eaten. The only time I was sick was when I forgot to eat and took them and I was awfully poorly

Pregnacare made me feel sick and gave me heartburn (even after taking them with food). I switched to Seven Seas and found them more gentle on my stomach. They are also much cheaper and 3 for 2 from Superdrug x

For weeks I was just taking folic acid and vitamin d tablets. At the moment I am taking Pregnacare gummies which are packed with all sorts including iron which I suspect Im probably deficient in. They are £15 for a months supply though so when they run out I will be back on just folic acid and vit d I think! I will be gone 12wks by that point but dont see any harm in continuing with the folic acid.

Thanks for the reminder! I keep forgetting to take them Shock I’ve found taking them in the afternoon/evening after I’ve eaten helps, I don’t feel so sick then!

I took ASDA to start with, now taking Tesco's. they're much cheaper and have the same stuff. I take them for all pregnancy.

flissity · 09/01/2020 10:27

To save costs you can just take a supermarket or chemist brand - theu usually include exactly the same things for way less monney!

I take the lloyds pharmacy pregnancy multi-v. If i have on empty stomach i feel really sick.

I took religiously up to about 14/15 weeks - now i am 21 weeks and take when I remember../...

I switched from Pregnacare (made me feel sick) to Tesco own brand, they’re cheaper and fine.

My midwife gave me healthy start pregnancy vitimans. They are nice and don't repeat on you. I also take an iron tablet prescribed after my pregnancy bloods showed I was low.

I'm taking seven seas atm, they have a small dose of ginger root in them too which helps a little with morning sickness. They seem to be agreeing with my system just fine.
I only plan on taking them up to end of first trimester then just going to take a high dose vitamin d (I'm extremely deficient) and iron. I'm hoping I can start to get more vitamins from my diet once my nauseas gone ☺️

I take the Tesco own brand as they are far cheaper than the branded ones. You should keep taking them after the birth if you breast feed and thought out your pregnancy.

CalamityJune · 14/01/2020 12:19

I just take vitamin d from holland and barratt

Hall84 · 14/01/2020 13:27

I take Asda's own. I did try the Tesco ones but found they had a stronger flavour I didn't like. My midwife said they had exactly the same as pregnacare and that current advice was to take them right through pregnancy.

pinknsparkly · 14/01/2020 13:34

Take them before bed. I'm taking Pregnacare too so can't advise on alternatives but I find they make me MUCH less nauseous if I take them before bed with a snack (as you're supposed to take the variety I'm using with food).

I'm taking Pregnacare Max, which is three tablets per day (my nausea is still so bad and diet so poor that I want to take the full multivitamin to try and ensure baby gets some nutrients) and I really really really take my time swallowing them. I take one with a ton of water, carry on drinking and then take the second about 2 minutes later. Repeat for the third. You could try that if you're taking more than one tablet.
