Am I having a miscarriage?

I had some bleeding and cramps yesterday, not heavy bleeding - more like spotting. I only just found out I was pregnant a few days ago so very early days.

My stomach was quite sore and crampy for about an hour.
I phoned the doctor and he said most likely a miscarriage because it's so early which has set me into panic.

Is it almost definitely a miscarriage or can bleeding and cramps also be a sign of early pregnancy? I'm so confused

Call your local EPU/the midwives. I called mine when I was 6 weeks pregnant (and not yet registered) and they booked me a scan at the EPU. I have had everything from spotting to gushing, running down the leg with massive clots bleeding and all is fine so it's not necessarily a miscarriage. I hope all is well for you too.

I'm the exact same as @justtheonethen I was bleeding for 3 weeks from week 5 to week 8, is sick on the loo and it would literally fall out of me, it was heavier than a period. I phoned my local EPU, they had me in between week 5 & 8 until they saw a heartbeat.

They told me although it's not normal, it's normal to them, and there's no harm in going in as they're there to ease your anxiety. I had to wait 2 days for an appointment and to be honest, when I went and I was still bleeding to didn't make me feel better and I dreaded going every week but it's settled down now and I'm 10 weeks and seen the little heart beat flickering away.

@summershine2204 did they find a reason for yours?

helpplease12r · 09/01/2020 07:30

I have phoned them but because I'm so early they can't see me yet.

It's so confusing because I only finished what I thought was a period on the 30th, but my tests are so clearly positive - very strong and fast lines?

They've told me to wait two weeks and test again but it feels like a lifetime away. This is a much wanted and hoped for pregnancy and I'm just so unsure of what to do

@justtheonethen no! Not a thing. I have PCOS and a new cyst formed and was 5cm so I asked if was possible that the cyst had popped or something like that and they said no.

To be honest, they couldn't give me a straight answer but I don't think they wanted to be held accountable for anything. I was so scared and they didn't explain anything, even when my husband was trying to get answers.

@helpplease12r they can't scan until 6 weeks as they are unlikely to see anything. They could do hcg blood tests though so maybe go and see your doctor and ask for two tests 48 hours apart and then you will see if it's progressing.

It's such a horrible wait. Everything crossed for you.

@helpplease12r I first went at 5 weeks and there was only a tiny tiny sack and they couldn't see anything in it. All they could tell me was it was the right shape and location but it could be a "threatening miscarriage"... and that was an internal scan. I'm afraid when it's early days it is all waiting and I know just how scary it can be.

Bloods are the only thing they can do as your HCG should be doubling each day (or there about). There's no harm pushing the doctor for them.
