Has anyone has a beta hcg of 7.47 at 4 weeks and had a viable pregnancy?

Hello ladies! It is my very first pregnancy and after a fresh embryo transfer on 26th December 2019, when i went in for my 1st beta hcg blood test on 7th Jan, it came back at 7.47. We go in for my 2nd beta hcg today. Absolutely anxious and just looking out for success stories? Oh a slightly brighter note, did a Clear Blue urine home pregnancy test this morning and it had a faint line! So a faint BFP, presumably! Keeping our hopes high and praying that the beta hcg picks up and rises up to the sky! !

Hi I didn’t want to leave this unanswered. It was my understanding that a beta of 25 and above meant pregnant but even 25 is quite low. 7.47 is incredibly low so I’d prepare for the worst unfortunately. I’ve never heard of a viable pregnancy from a result that low. Sorry OPSad

Dear Angel, thank you so much for having taken the trouble to drop by and reply me. I guess I'm just hoping against hope, but also preparing ourselves mentally for the worst. Right now, I've just given blood for the 2nd beta hcg. We will return to the doctor's in 45minutes' time!

So kind of you to have replied me. Thank you!

Your welcome and I really hope you get a positive result. If not then I wish you and your DP all the best for any future attempts. Good luck!

Dear Angeldelight68, I came back here to update you 'coz you're the one kind soul who took the trouble to reply me. Guess what? My 2nd beta hcg result came back at 18 ! That's a hike from 7 so we're elated. The doctor would like to do an ultrasound scan in 10 days to confirm the presence of the gestational sac. So for now, as long as the beta hcg slowly climbs up, we're more than thankful ! I will keep you posted, dear Angel !

That's wonderful, keeping everything crossed for you.

A bhCG of 5 is pregnant. Generally a rise of 50% in 48 hours is expected, but as low as 35% can be viable. If yours is 18 now, it's risen enough. 🙂

@OliviaEve wonderful news!!!! I’ve been thinking of you but didn’t want to pry in case you were upset. I hope the levels continue to rise. Fingers crossed for a very sticky bean! Smile

Dearest @lougle and @angeldelight68 , thank you so very much for your genuinely sincere and kind words. You can't imagine how this warms my heart at this present moment! ! The latest update as of hours ago, DH and I did a Clear blue home pregnancy test and the line which was barely visible on the 9th of Jan 2020 is now clearer and visible! This has given us the reassurance that the beta Hcg levels are gradually rising up. We don't have any more beta Hcg tests scheduled till that scan (to look out for the gestational sac) in exactly a week from today. I will definitely keep both of you updated on everything.

@oliviaeve they may not detect anything at the scan in a weeks time as your hcg levels are only low at starting and they dont see anything until hcg levels are 1500hcg so bare that in mind if they dont it wouldnt mean your not pregnant just not quite at the correct level so make sure they recan you if this is the case x

Hello @RachelEllenR ! I had missed your message earlier, in all the excitement of replying to this thread. Thank you so much for your burst of positivity. This is exactly what DH and I need right now. We're so thankful for you lovely ladies and your support! *hugs

Hello @KHall84 ! Yes, we're also reminding ourselves that gestational sacs are meant to be visible in scans anytime from 5-7 weeks and on 18th Jan, I'd be 5 weeks + 3 days, so still early days. The doctor has also scheduled another beta Hcg then so we're hoping that EVEN if we do not see that much-awaited Gestational sac, as long as we see a nice healthy rise in the beta Hcg after a week's gap, that's reassuring enough to indicate to us that baby's growing okay?

Just to correct someone: HCG is supposed to double every 48 hrs( not raise by 50%).

OliviaEve · 11/01/2020 14:11

@R2D2abc, yeah, I understand. Thank you for the correction. We're just praying that there's a nice hike from 18 , in a week , which is on Saturday (18th Jan 2020) . **keeping fingers crossed
