One-sided lower back pain - 9 weeks

Hi all,

I am 9 weeks pregnant. I had a private scan on Sunday which showed all ok at that point - I've had MMC in the past but taking reassurance from the scan.

Since about 6 weeks I've had noticeable pain in my lower back on the left hand side - sort of just across from my coccyx. To start with it was more intermittent and more of an annoyance but it has got noticeably worse in the last 48 hours. It currently causes discomfort even to walk. I only returned to work (sitting at a desk)/commuting (1hr + on trains) on Monday so not sure if that's aggravated it. I've got my booking in app with the midwife tomorrow so will mention then but it's affecting my sleep, my concentration at work and I just wondered if anyone had had anything similar?

I know that hormonal/uterus changes can cause joint pain in the first trimester but it feels particularly localised to the left side and isn't intermittent - I wondered if anyone had had anything similar/had any advice?

It's getting me down a bit :(

Thanks

Hiya, I can't say that I've just ever felt something like you described. But I have had some other random aches and pains. I think it is easy to be much more aware of things like this when pregnant. Hope your midwife can give you some reassurance tomorrow!

Thanks for the reply @Kehs. I'm wondering if its not pregnancy related at all and purely coincidental but timings are funny. I think I have a retroverted uterus so perhaps that puts more strain on my back. Who knows but doesn't seem normal to not be able to walk or sit normally. Fingers crossed midwife can help tomorrow.

I've been having the exact same problem, I'm only 5+3 ish but I've noticed it for the past week or so, along with tummy cramps, I think that lower back ache can be a symptom but I'm not sure about it being one sided. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about

Looks like I have a UTI which could explain this - didnt have any real urgency to wee or painful wee so hadn't thought it was that but hopefully getting that treated now and will see if that clears the back ache. Just in case anyone sees this thread and an update is useful.
