Do I need to phone GP?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant, the last couple days I've probably overdone it a bit, DGM has been in hospital so I've visited after long work days and got back late, am admittedly exhausted and have a long (1.5 hour each way) commute anyway. But I feel awful and have just fainted. Lights feels like they're flickering and I feel really dizzy and sick (I have HG but tablets normally control it, today they're just not helping). I am very weak, barely managing to lift anything, and not sure if I should be getting checked out. Drinking loads as per usual last couple of days but barely weeing (feel like I really need to go, but bugger all is coming out). Please either tell me to woman up and push through, or tell me if I should actually ring for a GP appointment :/ I feel so out of it that I'm not thinking straight!

Do you have a triage unit at the hospital?
I honestly think this is possibly more urgent than a GP - ring your midwife?
Flashing lights sensation can be a sign of preeclampsia (it was with me). Possibly you are dehydrated even if you have been drinking a lot but do see someone as soon as you can. Don’t leave it.

urbosa · 08/01/2020 09:55

Preeclampsia - I think you have more than one symptom. Please get medical help immediately.

DesLynamsMoustache · 08/01/2020 09:56

Call midwife/triage at labour ward immediately. Numbers should be in your notes.

ByAppointmentTo · 08/01/2020 09:58

Don't call the GP. Phone the labour ward and go in to be assessed.

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 08/01/2020 10:10

Agree with above. You need to go to be assessed by an obstetrician for preeclampsia.

R2D2abc · 08/01/2020 10:13

Maternity unit at your hospital is the place you should get check. Don't delay.

Engard · 08/01/2020 10:17

You probably need a drip. Sounds like you're dehydrated

Dinosauraddict · 08/01/2020 10:19

Thanks everyone, at least I don't feel like I'm just being pathetically dramatic. I'll give them a call once I escape my next meeting!

Go straight to your hospital

shutupsteph · 08/01/2020 10:23

@dinosauraddict f**k the meeting, you sound very dehydrated. work can wait

Bin85 · 08/01/2020 10:26

Get someone from work to take you now or get a taxi

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 08/01/2020 10:30

Don’t wait till after the next meeting

All of your symptoms are telling you something is wrong, contact your midwife / maternity unit now. You and your baby are far more important than a meeting.

lowwintersun · 08/01/2020 10:31

No meeting. Hospital please.

Candlecandle · 08/01/2020 10:31

Don't wait- you really must make this the priority. 😱

Dinosauraddict · 08/01/2020 10:43

Thanks everyone - will phone now! Smile
