Hi everyone I am Ashleigh and New Years day I found out I was pregnant woo hoo after 1 year of trying. I was 2 days late when I tested and the clear blue showed positive really dark within seconds and I done another test today and still pregnant thank god haha. My last period i was 2 days late and when I came on I was super light for 1 day didn't even need a pad. But I recorded it as period so using that as my period I am 5 weeks tomorrow just wondering I see a lot of pregnancy tests with faint lines at 5 days late could this mean I am further on than 5 weeks? I don't see my midwife until the 20th thanks everyone xxGrin

It could be that or........ twins! Grin

Congratulations on the pregnancy. At 5 weeks (or anytime after my AF was due!) my tests were very dark and obvious. So it could be you are just someone who makes lots of hormone.

NishaaS123 · 08/01/2020 07:06

I tested 2 days over and I had a faint line then I tested 1 days after that and my line was really dark so the hormones just go up rapidly I am guessing :D

You could be further on if that first late period wasn’t normal for you. Can you afford a private scan to check the dates before your nhs scan?

Christmastree43 · 08/01/2020 07:12

I had the same with an extremely strong test instantly coming up and had no idea how far along as had been on the pill and skipped last period so could have been 2 weeks, could have been upto 10 (lmp - although is it an lmp if you're on the pill?!). As you need the 12 week screening scan no later than 12 weeks 1 day I paid for a private scan for £35, we were extremely shocked to find out I was 20 weeks and there was a fully formed baby in there kicking around Blush

If you really want to know and can afford it pay for a scan OP. Best of luck with everything!

Omg I meant 10 weeks!!! Not 20 weeks, I think I would have known by then 🤣

Thanks everyone there is a possibility it could be twins my dh is a twin. And dh was taking hcg injectection which increases chances by 50% for twins. I was looking into an early scan but all the ones I can find are £70. Congratulations everyone! Xx

This happened to me - it turned out the last 'period' was actually the implantation bleed (was super light and lasted 2days but I thought was a period) - so I was a month further ahead (have long cycle!). Congratulations!!

It's impossible to tell without a scan but by 2 days late my test line was way stronger than the control line. He was a singleton and my dates were correct.

Not sure where you are based but have a look on groupon or wowcher for reassurance scans as they are cheaper on there :) www.groupon.co.uk/deals/ultrasound-scanning-services

Thanks everyone there is a possibility it could be twins my dh is a twin.

Although it can be twins you don't have a higher chance because DH is a twin. It's only hereditary on the maternal side.

And congratulations!

summershine2204 · 08/01/2020 13:30

@mrs@MrsWilson2019 have a look on Groupon for scans. There are scans (dating) for £35 in my wares!

Congratulations. I just wonder if it would be worth contacting your GP and saying you haven't had a proper period since the last definite one and you are pregnant. If that means you could be closer to 9 or 10 weeks, just maybe they would send you for a scan to check? Otherwise there is a risk you might miss the time scales for screening tests etc. If not, private scan or waiting is the only option!
