Baby really low - 36 week scan

Hi all, I’m 35+2 and had my 36 week scan today (some hospitals now offer this as standard)
I have felt baby is low for weeks now, I get sharp shooting pains in my vagina which can stop me in my tracks.

Sonographer today said baby is very very low, so low that she had to scan practically my pubic bone to get images of baby’s brain, she even asked me if I’m in pain because she’s so low...

My question is... has this happened to anybody else at 35 weeks? Does it mean there’s a chance baby can come early?

I’m starting to panic, not even bought a car seat yet...!!

I wouldn’t panic if I were you. I had a presentation scan for suspected breech at 36+1 and I knew baby was low as the bump had dropped - but didn’t know how low. Turns out the little monkey wasn’t breech at all - but his head was so low they couldn’t actually measure it.

I’ll be 40 weeks exactly tomorrow and the little monkey is still in there despite a fortnight’s worth of twinges!

I was the same at 32 weeks, baby was extremely low, cervix soft, was signed off from that point as had been under consultant care due to a weak cervix and DD still hung in there until 40+5

I’m 34 weeks and my boy is breech, started to engage bum and hips first. Very uncomfortable 🥵 Having to see a OBGYN in two weeks to possible have a C Section as my little monkey is so low now there’s no way to turn him. I’m hoping I don’t go into labour in the next two weeks as if he gets any more engaged he’ll get stuck! (He’s a chunky boy 😂) don’t worry OP. Things happen when and how they happen.

Hey my little girl was like that from 28 weeks, I had regular growth scans due to other issues and they couldn’t get her measurements for her head as she was too low , basically below my bone.
I was signed off for reduced hours at work- my consultant wanted to sign me off work altogether but we comprised🙈 I was already using progesterone pessaries due to a weakened cervix. Everyone was convinced she would come early!
She hung on until 37 weeks, I had an induction scheduled as she was also small. That was on the Friday so had a sweep on the Tuesday - the sweep did the trick and I was in labour within a few hours!
I think without the sweep she would have probably stuck it out another 2/3 days...
I’d go get your car seat!

Buy your car seat thou.

Anyways one of my baby's at 31 weeks was down in my pelvis and was difficult to see head properly because of my pelvic bones. It's not a bad thing, they can start to engage earlier in some women. Might just mean higher chances of baby being in a good position when labour starts.

I was very low last week at 29 weep growth scan they had to scan on my pubic bone, didn't seem worried so I wasn't either :)

Thanks all, feel alot better but going to get my bag packed and car seat sorted this weekend just to be on the safe side :)

I have felt so sick last couple of days and keep getting hot flushes - again I read this can be fairly normal.

If baby did come before 37 weeks, do you think I could have a water birth? Im 35+4 at the mo...
