How much bloating is normal?

I’m 7 weeks today and I am so bloated it’s painful. My jeans which were on the big side before I got pregnant are now uncomfortably tight and I can barely do them up. When I look in the mirror I already look 5 months pregnant. I know it can’t be a bump because I’m only 7 weeks. This is my first so I have no idea if this is normal or not? Is it normal? And does anyone know any antibloat remedies that are safe in pregnancy? Thanks x

Yes it's normal and it will go down.

I was the same! I had to wear really baggy clothes because I looked so pregnant even though I knew it wasn't an actual bump. At some point my bloating and actual bump kind of merged and I could start to enjoy looking pregnant!

God I was the same..it was awful. The worst part about the first 12 weeks actually. It was so so painful as well as I had awful wind. (sorry too much info).

The good news is it deffo goes...mine went about the 14 week mark I think. Just try wear baggy clothes...nothing that presses against your belly & try peppermint tea xx

Thanks everyone it’s a relief to know it’s normal! I’m glad it’s winter so I can hide under baggy jumpers.

When do you normally start to show? Is it around the time the bloating should go down? I won’t know what’s bloat and what’s bump 😂

Yes the first trimester bloat is real! I didn't show properly with my first until about 25 weeks when I went from not looking pregnant at all to looking huuuuge. The bloating had tailed off long before then so I had a decent gap where I just looked normal. With my second I showed a lot earlier- about 14 weeks my bump started to pop and was very obvious at my 20 week scan. Congratulations!

I’ve heard you show a lot sooner with your second compared with your first. I’m hoping I’ll have a few weeks where it’ll go back to normal so then I can tell when my bumps starting to show and I can get excited

I was honestly more bloated in my first trimester than I was baby bump in my second. I had a constant round tummy which then went again at about week 12 and remained pretty much flat until about week 20 when I suddenly exploded.

Very normal but make the most of the time when you have no bump!
