Hi all, I'm going in for a planned csection Wednesday morning. Been told to arrive at 7.30 am. Just wondering what experiences people have had with how long they were waiting to actually go in? Trying to plan things with childcare. Thanks

I went in around 7.30 and they decided the order that morning (about four planned c sections that day) I was second but didn’t go into theatre until 11.15 or so as the first one took longer than they anticipated. My baby was born just after midday. Into recovery- probably back in ward after 2pm. Stayed one night and checked out the following evening. Good luck!

Arrived at 7, was taken first and had DD at 10 but would have been an hour earlier if it wasn't for a complication along the way.

I had my planned section 9 weeks ago, i went to the hospital same time as you and was first on the list (at my last midwife appointment she actually checked and told me then that i was first on the day, obviously any emergencies that came in would change that)
Went into the theatre around 9.15 and he was born by 10am, stayed one night and out the next morning by 11am, it was an amazing, very calming experience. Hope all goes well good luck x

Sorry posted too soon. Stayed 2 nights but would have been ok after 1 I think. Good luck OP.

My son was born 930 something am but
I had been in labour all night
The lady after me had her son by 11 am

nowaypose · 07/01/2020 10:26

We arrived at 10 am and he was born at 4:30pm.

nowaypose · 07/01/2020 10:27

Oh and I went home the next morning at 7:30am.

When I had DD I had to be there for 11am. They only do 3 sections a day at my hospital and they have a separate theatre for emergencies so the list isn't affected. They didn't tell me where I was on the list. It was just a case of waiting. I ended up being last. DD was born just after 5pm but we had already arranged for a friend to collect DS from school and give him dinner. I was home by 4pm the next day.

Hi OP, I cant add to this as I am going in at 7.30am tomorrow too. Just wanted to say best of luck, here's hoping by this time tomorrow our babies are here Smile

mumtumdocare · 07/01/2020 12:37

I went in for 7.30 and actually went in for the section around 11.45. Good luck and congratulations ❤

Theseptemberissues · 07/01/2020 12:43

I went in at 7am, was third on the list, baby born at 12:30 😊

MrsPatrickDempsey · 07/01/2020 12:46

It is hard to say as obviously any emergencies will get priority.

I was asked to be at hospital for 7:30 as well and was second on the list. They ended up messing up a bit and accidentally starting to send someone on ahead of me (which I was blissfully unaware of!) but I went down to theatre at about 10:30 and DD was born at 11:05.

userabcname · 07/01/2020 12:52

Arrived at 7am. Got prepped very quickly so first hour or so was quite busy. Was told it would happen any time between 9am-5pm and they wouldn't be any more specific than that to avoid disappointment. Got told they were ready for me at 11.15am and baby was born at midday.

ivfbabymomma1 · 07/01/2020 13:25

I had a planned c section! Went in at 7:30 and baby was born at 11:20 and I was second on the list!

Peppapeppapeppapeppa · 07/01/2020 13:32

It's really impossible to tell - I went in at 7.30 and was the only planned section that day. There were some emergencies that had to be dealt with and I didn't go through to theatre until 3pm. At one point it didn't look like I'd even get the section that day.

Olissa8 · 07/01/2020 13:42

It's very hard to tell. I've had two electives, both in the same hospital. Had to go at 07.30 both times. Was third on the list of three for DD2, then there were several emergencies and she wasn't born until 17.02.
DD3 I was first on the list of four and had her at 09.37. It would have been sooner but I have a slight scoliosis and they had to get the consultant to come and place the spinal, anaesthetist in theatre was struggling with my awkward back.
Stayed one night both times.
Hope all goes well Smile

I was a category 3, so baby needed to be out that day, but anyone emergencies were before me (and any planned after me) DD was born at 2.30pm!! I would not have liked to be on the elective list that day!

Good luck OP I hope your wait isn’t too long!

Lauren83 · 08/01/2020 01:06

I have had 2 one last year and they took me down within 30 minutes before I had even got myself sorted and unpacked, then one the year before I kept getting pushed down the list until I was finally cancelled at 7pm, they even give me IV fluids as I had been nil by mouth for so long, I was told to come back the next day at 7am and went down at 2pm
