Positive pregnancy test when supposed to be ovulating

Hi I am due to ovulate today, I have had positive ovulation tests but also faint positive pregnancy tests. With all different times of the day & different urine.

Any advice or thoughts?

I don’t think ovulation tests can distinguish between LH and HCG, whereas pregnancy tests can.
In other words an ovulation test might show as positive if you were pregnant as it would pick up on elevated HCG levels.
I’m pretty sure a pregnancy test would only show positive (if you read it within the correct window) if you were pregnant.
Does that make sense?

@Purringporcupine yeh that's what I thought aswell. Just not sure why I'm getting all these faint positive pregnancy tests when I'm only just due to ovulate, it's all very odd x

My pregnancy dates make no sense to when I should of ovulated, they said sometimes we ovulate early or later. I would imagine this means you are in fact already pregnant and not ovulating. A pregnancy test only picks up hcg which means pregnancy, it's unlikely to be incorrect. So congratulations Smile xx

Purringporcupine · 06/01/2020 19:05

Have you been reading them within the recommended window? If you leave it too late sometimes you get an evaporation line, which then resembles a giant positive.
If you’ve followed the instructions though maybe you ovulated early or twice?

Purringporcupine · 06/01/2020 19:06

Faint positive not giant 🤦‍♀️

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:07

@Purringporcupine yeah the lines have been showing up almost right away even though extremely faint they're there. I'll just need to keep taking them and see if they become any darker

I think it’s very unlikely that the pregnancy tests are wrong then! Hopefully this means congratulations are in order 🤗

aNonnyMouse1511 · 06/01/2020 19:13

I have seen this happen a few times.

MoonlightMistletoe · 06/01/2020 19:14

When and how was your last period was it any lighter than usual?

Ovulation tests can detect pregnancy and obviously pregnancy tests can too ! X

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:16

@@aNonnyMouse1511 what was the outcome of the previous things you have seen? I'm a bit limbo at the min because I think the pos pregnancy test wouldn't be showing a pos already from my dates of DTD if that makes sense

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:17

@em90792 I keep telling myself the pregnancy tests can't be wrong but I keep thinking my DTD dates are not that far away to have a pos already, I'm totally confused 🤦🏽‍♀️

What made you do a pg test if you were sure you couldn't be pg?

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:18

@Purringporcupine I hope you're right 🤞🏼😘

@MoonlightMistletoe my last period was 6 days late when it arrived but when it did it was like a normal period and lasted the normal amount of time, so I'm fairly sure it was indeed a period

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:19

@Copperleaves purely because I have shit loads & curiosity 🤣

OP posts:
Copperleaves · 06/01/2020 19:23

Haha I knew that feeling! Well pp is right about the ovulation sticks being able to detect pg but not vice versa, so it does sound like you are pg though the bleeding is weird (especially if a full period type rather than a lighter one). Try another test? Get a clearblue one?

Copperleaves · 06/01/2020 19:25

(The advantage of the clearblue one being if it's the one that shows how many weeks pg it thinks you are - could tie up with your own dates)

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:31

@Copperleaves these are all today's/tonight's. And I have FRER coming tomorrow x

Could have been implantation bleed x

MoonlightMistletoe · 06/01/2020 19:35

Or possibly a chemical pregnancy I don't mean to put a downer on it but I'm hoping tomorrow's test is stronger for you OP ! X

Essybird · 06/01/2020 19:36

I had exactly that. Smiling face on ovulation sticks and a positive pregnancy test and a ‘period’ the week before. Turned out I was pregnant and I am currently holding a very healthy baby boy as a result! No idea what the period was, probably implantation.. agreed though our bodies are odd sometimes..

Good luck!

aNonnyMouse1511 · 06/01/2020 19:41

@nt1992 the pregnancy tests were picking up ovulation x

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:43

@aNonnyMouse1511 if the tests don't progress I'll just put it down to the pt picking up Lh x

nt1992 · 06/01/2020 19:44

@MoonlightMistletoe I keep thinking chemical, tomorrow's tests will tell I suppose. Not getting my hopes up just incase

@Essybird the most confusing things ever! Congratulations on your baby boy bump💙
