Maternity pay in private banking

Hi there, I work in private banking and interested in hearing what your maternity policy includes? Where I work it is 3 months full pay followed by statutory and I am aware of other organisations that do full pay for 6 months! Does anyone have any useful comparisons please? Thanks.

Hi, in my experience very few organisations pay 6 months full. Most common is 6 - 12 weeks full (or 90%) and 12 weeks half + SMP.

Most of the major banks pay similar, usually 12 weeks full and 12 weeks half. I used to work in HR in the banking sector but that was 4 years ago so things may have changed in that time.

I'm legal sector and get 6 months full

No banking experience but I did work in the financial industry for a few years. Both companies I worked for offered 6 weeks @ 90% and the rest SMP!

I’ve now retrained & work for a publishing company. We get 6 months full, 3 months statutory! Thank god as ive no idea how we’d have survived on the above!

I really think it’s company dependent. My company are really generous with all benefits. Our closest competitor only offers 3 months full pay..

I’m in banking; 12 weeks full pay, 12 weeks half pay then SMP for any other time you take.

I get 6 months full, 3 months half, 3 months statutory.

I’ve been there for 15 years though (and have no plans to have anymore kids!) so new joiners may not get the same benefits to be fair!

I work for a financial institution in the city and it's 90% for 6 weeks then 50% for the remainder of the 12 months, a good deal

@EN86 I work in financial services, although not banking and get 12 weeks full pay then SMP which I think is terrible. And if you message me I can send you the benchmarking we've done at work in the industry showing how terrible it is. 26 companies from memory.
