Progesterone pessaries

Has anyone got experience of taking these? I’ve been prescribed them today due to recurrent miscarriages. What the side effects? I’ve read all sorts about them!

I've taken them for ivf cycles. they are easy enough to use, but it might help to look at a diagram online to see how you insert. after you do, lie down for 20mins so the progesterone can absort, and it's best to wear a pad after as the wax can leak out and cause a mess. sometimes you might get some bleeding due to irritation, but don't stress over it, just keep in touch with your doc. they will help maintain your pregnancy xxx

@Maggie272 thank you, that’s really helpful. However, if I see bleeding I’m going to freak out so bad!

I had to use them from 24 weeks up until 36 weeks due to a weak cervix, had three a day and to be honest didn't notice any side effects other than the annoying discharge.

I always used the back door, so no bleeding and no irritation (and no mess as an added bonus).

Symptoms were: depression, mood swings, constipation.

I used for IVF. My advice is use them up the back! Quick and easy, can carry on with your day straight away, nothing slides out so no pad needed or irritation. The wax just comes out with your next bowel movement.
