Hey everyone. I'm a first time mum and have my 12 week scan this afternoon!! Feeling very nervous and thinking the worst. Did anyone else feel like this while waiting for their scan?

I've had a lot of scans, probably 7 or 8 by now and I can honestly say the worry before a scan never really goes away, I think it's very normal though. I'd say 'don't worry' but you're going to anyway, so the best I can say is let yourself feel that worry, don't try and push it away because you're likely to just get more worked up. I'm sure everything will be fine, it's so magical seeing your baby 🥰

toomuchteaandcake · 06/01/2020 11:53

Yes! Try to relax, the scan will be over in a flash. Remember that the odds for everything to be fine are in your favour and if they're not being stressed isn't going to change that. Just try to look forward to seeing that baby Smile

I also have my scan this afternoon and I'm a bag of nerves!!

I just keep telling myself to stop imagining what can go wrong and imagine what can go right. I'm going to see my little baby and that's exciting.

Good luck to you 🥰

CMBABYx · 06/01/2020 12:15

@lovelyjubbly12 omg good luck you'll have to let me know how it goes!! Is it your first?

And thankyou guys. I'm so excited but it's very mixed with nerves. I've had horrendous backache and stomach cramps the past few days (although it's finally subsided thank god) so just the nerves of what if something happened and I didn't know. Fingers crossed all will be okay though🤞🏽

I've got my 12 week scan next week, I haven't been particularly anxious during this pregnancy, I've had the attitude 'what will be will be'. But now that I've got a date for the scan, I'm suddenly super nervous and terrified!

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/01/2020 12:22

Yes! I had a private 8 week scan, normal 12 week, private 16 week, normal 20 week and a positioning scan at 37 weeks. I was a bag of nerves before all of them!

Vilanelle · 06/01/2020 12:39

I had a viability one at 8 weeks and shit myself, same with 12 week. I felt sick waiting. 2 weeks now until 20 week. Very scared!

Pregnancy is basically just one long worry that never ends

lovelyjubbly12 · 06/01/2020 13:09

@CMBABYx yeah it's my first! Patiently waiting in the hospital now!!! Ahhhhhh!!!

ButterflyRuns · 06/01/2020 13:28

I feel really nervous waiting for my 12 week scan too and it won’t be yet since i’m only 8+1 so I’m booking an early scan. Definitely normal to worry about these things, but wishing you the best of luck as I’m sure it’ll all be fine Flowers

mywrencalls · 06/01/2020 13:38

@lovelyjubbly12 Hope it all went well! Xx

Good luck!! I remember this feeling well. Then when I started to feel him moving I was less anxious and more confident that he was ok. I really hope you enjoy the first scan, it's amazing!!

whiskersonkittenss · 06/01/2020 15:33

Aww I'm so pleased for you! Grin

ButterflyRuns · 06/01/2020 15:36

@CMBABYx So happy to hear that everything is good, and a pleasant surprise to know you’re a bit nearer than you thought!
