Do pregnancy tests ever lie?

Doh, I didn't mean to post an untitle post...

I did one at the weekend and got a BFP, albeit a fairly pale pink line. If it's true I would estimate I'm about 6 wks pg, but I have no symptoms, whereas with DD by this stage I was feeling nauseous, exhausted, sore boobs etc. Is it possible to be pregnant and have absolutely no symptoms?? BTW, it was a tesco test rather than an expensive clearblu one, but surely it should still be accurate??

False positive are rare to the point of non-existance, unless you are taking human chorionic gonadotropin for some reason

False negative do happen if the test is taken early on

I would say congratulations any line is a line

tigerschick · 28/08/2007 13:05

AFAIK tests can be wrongly negative but not wrongly positive. Did you read it after the time limit? If so it could be an evaporation line, if not then I think it is correct - if it were me I'd do another one just in case.
Oh, I had hardly any symptoms with dd. I was 8 weeks before I found out because I became really grumpy with dh and went off booze
Good luck

you cant get false positives only false negatives! so congratulations, my mom has 5dd's been pg 6times and she said everytime was different!

WindUpBird · 28/08/2007 13:06

Well, it MUST be true then! I've been off human chorionic gonadotropin for years
Just seems weird to have no symptoms when last time I had them all.

Congrats then!

Thank you! Last time feeling terrible was a good excuse for me to loll on sofa and do nothing while DH did all the chores. And those symptoms are so reassuring iyswim.
