Try not to panic. My gums were inflamed and bled when I brushed my teeth while pregnant with DD. I visited the dentist, who told me it was hormonal, but to keep an eye on it. Perfectly healthy gums/teeth after too.

My dentist just told me to use corsodyl everyday and he said he’d see me after pregnancy to clean any resulting yellowing.

Towards the end of my pregnancy I bled a lot. I'm someone they struggle to get blood out of normally, but it they stuck a pin in me then, it poured. I bled a lot when I brushed my teeth. I was 10 days overdue.

I normally go to the hygienist every 6 months but I'm going to wait until after I've given birth this time. It was too messy last time. It is normal though.

Just a point of advice really - my consultant said he wished I had told him earlier about the bleeding, as bleeding heavily anywhere can be an early warning sign that you are more likely to have a postpartum hemorage. Mention it to your mw just in case.

I had this with both pregnancies, my gums bled a lot. Dentist told me it was totally normal. Both times it settled down a few months after the birth. And my DSs were born on due date and a week early, so definitely not premature. Try not to worry, although I know it’s hard as I worry about everything when I’m pregnant.

Hi, dentist here. Gum issues are common during pregnancy. Go see your dentist it's free while you're pregnant for this reason. Corsodyl alone will not solve your problem.

@NishaaS123 it will definitely be fine. Its very common and nothing to worry about. It's just worth seeing your dentist as they may be able to give you specific advice on managing it. Best wishes xx

Hope you don’t mind but I just read that our a dentist and wanted to ask a question or two.
I’m pregnant with No3 and in my first trimester, I have noticed a swelling between my 2 front teeth - nothing I’ve used has reduced its swelling. I’ve read that it’s a pregnancy tumour and can happen, my question is That how likely will my dentist remove it as it’s driving me mad already, also is there anything at all I can do to reduce it?

Thanks in advance.

@strawberrysundayss please see my message above, I thought I had tagged you already.

@mumaofgirls hi sorry only just seen this I'm rarely on Mumsnet these days.
Unfortunately I'm not able to give advise without at least a picture. I would recommend contacting your dentist to determine what the issue is as how it's managed is completely dependent on the diagnosis Xx

Make sure you are flossing at least every night before you brush your teeth
