You're never going to have any sleep again!!! Enjoy it now!!

I've received very little tips and advise during pregnancy, just negative comments about how miserable pregnancy and the rest of my life is going to be 🙄

Also '6 months? You're tiny! Your baby is going to be so small!'

It's a good job my midwife isn't concerned about my child's growth then, because that would be massively insensitive to someone who is going through private issues that they haven't necessarily divulged. I was' tiny' with my first son, and he was 9 lb 2. People shouldn't be commenting on ladies bodies.

Tableclothing · 05/01/2020 20:06

"I drank wine when I was pregnant, it never did you any harm"

"So have you gained a lot of weight? How many pounds?"

"you're looking plump"

"Your bump is so tiny!"

"Have you got stretch marks yet?"

"Sleep while you can!"

"Obviously you won't be drinking tea"

Newyearnewme2020 · 05/01/2020 20:06

A couple that used to really annoy me were:

Are you going to cut your hair when the babys born, it will be hard to manage with a new baby.

Are you going to get a jeep so it will be easier in your back?

Baby is 7 months and I have my long hair and the same car!

Newyearnewme2020 · 05/01/2020 20:07

Also hated people assuming I wanted a girl because I already had a boy Angry

mrspotatohed · 05/01/2020 20:08

Just the fact that you suddenly become fair game for comments about how you look and what you eat. 'Ooooo your arse has gone big hehehehe'. I'm fucking aware of that love I cant fit into any of my clothes 🙄 fuck off!

MyCatScaresDogs · 05/01/2020 20:10

Oh my God, yes - “are you sure there’s only one in there?”. I seemed to pop really quickly this time round and actually had a few people struck dumb in October/November when I said baby wasn’t due until January.

Also kept getting asked by medics whether I’d had a scan and whether there was just the one in there - nah, I thought I’d get my whooping cough jab for a laugh, but can’t be arsed with any of this scan nonsense. Did end up barking at one poor GP that no, I wasn’t due until January and yes, there was only one in there and yes, that had been confirmed via scan. She backtracked quite quickly and started going on about how uncomfortable I must be due to carrying so high....

Engard · 05/01/2020 20:10

Get all the sleep while you can....
I'm pregnant with SPD and a toddler, I haven't slept since August!

You must be getting pretty close now
Actually I'm 12 weeks but thanks for pointing out how effin huge I am right now

Taddda · 05/01/2020 20:10

I had the same but the other way round @Newyearnewme2020 - with the added 'ahhhh, it would have been nice to have one of each'...no, I did actually want two Dd's, and their wonderful!

FirstTimeDS · 05/01/2020 20:12

I'm coming on 9months if I hear someone tell me im not going to sleep when he's born again I'm going to eat them. Suffering from pregnancy insomnia doesn't help.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 05/01/2020 20:12

I had a lot of comments third time round about how small I was.

I was small because the baby wasn’t growing properly. Mostly I just shrugged it off as “stupid things people say” but one school mum kept on at me about it so I took great delight in telling her that indeed I was very small, having weekly scans and that baby would be induced the moment she was 37 weeks, if not before.

That shut her up, although not as much as I hoped!

(Baby was tiny but fine.)

Engard · 05/01/2020 20:13

@Taddda yes! Every one is so relieved to hear I'm having a boy (I already have a girl)
I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with 2 or even more girls because they're my babies?!?!?

Chocolatedaim · 05/01/2020 20:15

I hated questions about the birth, my elderly neighbour said “are you going to go for a nice normal birth?” What the heck is a nice normal birth???

“Are you going to give your baby a strange modern name?”

“Are you managing to sleep”

“Was it planned”

“Are you going to give up working”

“Are you going to stop after this one”

Honestly the rudeness of some people is astonishing

Moltenpink · 05/01/2020 20:19

I slept so much better after I had both my kids, when pregnant I just couldn’t get comfortable with the pressure on my spine and I missed sleeping on my stomach. Even with newborns waking me a few times a night I got much better rest!

I was told scary stories about tyrannical health visitors who would call social services (DM Hmm) but they turned out to be lovely.

I absolutely love this thread. 🤣🤣

I really hate the whole "think of all the things people so when they DONT know they're pregnant! Drinking, drugs and smoking!! So I wouldn't worry about cutting anything out of your life!!!!"

Yes... ok... 🙃

khaleesiofthegreatgrasssea · 05/01/2020 20:27

I've only told a few people so far but I've already had 3 people say, "so are you going to go back to work?" I don't really know why it feels so uncomfortable to answer but it's almost like people want to judge what kind of parent I'm going to be when I'm only just pregnant.

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 05/01/2020 20:29

'Will you breastfeed? We have amazing breastfeeding support here' (at a clinic)
'No, I can't breastfeed'(medical condition and nothing there)
'Oh that's such a shame' head tilt and walks off

Ticklemeelmo · 05/01/2020 20:29

Get ready for your life to change

Yeah had this a lot- no shit Sherlock!

Currently 40 weeks and getting the barrage of texts asking if any news. I feel like turning my phone off

Smarties87 · 05/01/2020 20:33

I'm 11 weeks and I've got a big gap, 2 DS's who are 13 and 11.

I hate it when people say...'your brave, starting all over again'

Another one, like a few have already said ☝🏻 because I already have 2 boys...'bet your hoping for a girl'

Spartonian · 05/01/2020 20:38

One tip I got from a midwife.

They class a pregnancy up to 42 weeks so I changed my due date 9 days later than I was told. It stopped quite a lot of the "any news yet comments" as no one other than DH knew the "real" due date.

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/01/2020 20:43

"How long were you trying for?"

"Was it planned?"

"Enjoy all the sleep you can get now cos you won't get any when the baby is here!"

🙄🙄🙄

Lllot5 · 05/01/2020 20:44

Someone asked me if all mine had the same father once.

shutupsteph · 05/01/2020 20:45

"Say goodbye to enjoying your life"

"You don't really have to stop drinking, a gin and tonic once a week won't hurt"

"Why are you starting maternity leave a month before the baby is due? You can go longer"

"Why are you still working? Start mat leave and rest"

"If you're tired now just wait until the baby comes and you never sleep again"

Showmeyourhero · 05/01/2020 20:47

Customer at Work yesterday "Ah it's still in there, is it?" 😳

Taddda · 05/01/2020 20:59

@Engard So true, I still get the question 'would you have preferred a boy?' No! I have two wonderful little girls, I'm very lucky!!
