Hi everyone, first time poster here. I’m currently 5w5d pregnant with my first child. Last night, I started to bleed and have cramps similar to period pain. There’s not enough blood to fill a pad properly but is definitely more than spotting. There’s been no tissue that I have seen. It’s very similar to a period in colour. Pregnancy test shows I’m still pregnant although I know this could be hormones still. Im booked into the doctors in two days at which point will meet the criteria for a referral to early pregnancy unit (urgent care appointment today didn’t help). Has anyone experienced this and went on to have a successful pregnancy? I’m convinced it’s bad news but still secretly hoping

Hi, I don't have any advice but didn't want to read & run.

I'm going through similar at 6w3d, I've had light bleeding, mainly spotting for 6 days now. Bleeding was slightly heavier on the 1st Dec, I had cramps that day & passed clots during the night. More worrying is my complete loss of pregnancy symptoms, I just don't feel pregnant anymore, I am booked in for a scan at EPU tomorrow morning & am expecting bad news Sad

So sorry to hear that. I’ve not really had pregnancy symptoms yet other than some tender boobs which I also think are going :( thoughts are with you for tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t be bad news xxx

At 3-4 weeks I had bleeding and cramps that I thought was a period and then at 6-7 weeks had bleeding; I’m now 32 weeks and pregnancy is going smoothly so I hope it’s the same for you

Groovygirl3003 · 05/01/2020 21:27

Pleased everything has turned out ok for you, fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about. The cramps aren’t particularly painful really but the blood with it is of concern to me. Going to be a long couple of days

I had a bleed big enough to go through my underwear and trousers at 6 weeks on the dot. Looked just like a period. I was seen by the EPU and everything was fine - no cAuse for the bleed seen. Now 18 weeks so fingers crossed for you!

I’ve had spotting and/or bleeding in 5 out of 6 pregnancies - I’ve had 3 miscarriages and 3 children (the one pregnancy I didn’t bleed at all ended up in a missed miscarriage). With one I absolutely gushed blood (felt like I’d weed) and he’s now a very cheeky 3yo. It really could go either way but the odds are in your favour. I know the wait feels like forever though, nothing really helps when you’re in that horrible limbo, you just want to know. Very very best of luck to you Flowers

@kkr168 let us know how your scan goes. Fingers crossed for good news.

I’m still bleeding today although it doesn’t seem as much. Its still only when I wipe and not hitting the pad which is surprising given the amount there on the paper 😕

The cramps appear to have stopped to but I’m not sure. I’ve taken a pregnancy test but that was negative (possibly diluted urine due to time of day). I had a positive text just yesterday at the doctors and surely it takes longer than a day for levels to drop. I have my appointment tomorrow with the doctors so fingers crossed they send me for a scan

Hi @Groovygirl3003 unfortunatly it was confirmed at EPU that I had a complete miscarriage, my HCG came back as 52 which I assume is low? Have to go back wednesday for 2nd lot of bloods.
They then threw a spanner in the works & told me they'd found a cyst on my right ovary, I need to go back for another scan in 3 months to check on it, hopefully it's nothing serious!
You definitely shouldn't be showing as negative already, so I'd assume that was a faulty test.
I really hope you have better news Flowers

Groovygirl3003 · 07/01/2020 12:21

@kkr168 so sorry to hear that hun :( big hugs to you. Hopefully the cyst turns out to be nothing to worry about.

I’ve taken another test this morning and it’s still a positive but the line is very faint compared to the original. I’ve got an appointment at EPU on Thursday now so hopefully find out then. I’m not holding out much hope now, I no longer feel pregnant. I think we are prepared for the worst news xxx

I just found out I had a miscarriage today, had similar symptoms to what you described
I hope everything will be ok, everyone’s is different. But the pregnancy may still show for an extra month

kkr168 · 07/01/2020 13:28

@Groovygirl3003 I think I found it easier thinking the worst, that way I didn't have high expectations when I went to the scan. My husband kept telling me to think positive & SIL said maybe you lost a twin, I told them both that having false hope wouldn't help.
I really hope things are different for you & your has stuck xx

Hi, Im sorry to jump in on your post but I feel like I might be having a miscarriage and I'm not sure what to do. I'm 8w, I had spotting at weeks 5 and 6 and felt calm about it but for some reason I just feel really panicked and overwhelmed with emotion. My GP shuts at 6 so wont get there in time. Do you think I should just go home try and calm down and see how it goes, or go to a walk in centre now? I'm really panicky and not sure what to do. thank you

b0nnieN · 10/01/2020 17:46

I'm 7 weeks and have been bleeding for the last 4 days with cramps.. yesterday I went to EPU, and the little peanut is fine. Strong heartbeat and pregnancy is in the right place. Doctor said some people just bleed in their pregnancy but not to worry unless it's a lot of fresh blood that could fill a pad. (Hard not to worry when every time I go toilet I'm wiping away blood 😩)

But definitely get checked out just for reassurance, otherwise the doctor did mention it can be normal 😕 xx

Amichelle84 · 10/01/2020 18:20

Thank you. I phoned my maternity unit and they said to go to AnE to get referred to the EPU. The bleeding isnt bright red or anything so I am going to try and hold out and go of it gets worse. Thank you. I'm a bit calmer now
