I’m 22W 3 days . Over a week ago I noticed baby didn’t move very much all day and called maternity unit and they listened to baby’s heartbeat. Said everything’s fine . For the past 2 days baby’s movements have been really strange, not as active as usual, and I’m getting really worried . Don’t know if I’m overthinking . I’m not sure what to do .

That is very early in pregnancy to have 'normal' movements, the baby is very small and patterns vary according to baby's position and your placenta. The baby is also too young to survive if delivered as I'm sure you know. When is your next appointment. I would suggest trying not to focus on it too much just now and concentrate on keeping yourself well and active to support the pregnancy to the optimum.

Next midwife appointment is 3 weeks away.

Ok well I would try and ring to get that bought forward because I think you will feel more comfortable with another check sooner than that. I'm assuming you feel well in yourself? If you are unwell seek medical help immediately.

Thank you, I’ll try and see if I can have an earlier appointment. First baby so everything is worrying. I’ve been weirdly very hungry for the past 2 days but feel full at the same time? Thanks for your help

My baby's movements were still really patchy up until probably 24 weeks even though I started feeling movement early at 16 weeks. I just put it down to them still being small, hiding behind the placenta sometimes, or not being able to feel kicks inwards.

Hungry but full sounds like normal symptoms to me, wait for the rampant heartburn to hit next!

Babygray2020 · 05/01/2020 17:04

Thank you. I have severe heartburn already 😂 along with HG and Anaemia. So this pregnancy hasn’t been the easiest so far . Thanks for your help, appreciate it

You must have been told several times that all changes to movements should be checked regardless of less or more. Contact your maternity unit again.

Babygray2020 · 05/01/2020 18:48

Took a trip to maternity care. They said to always get checked regardless of gestation, which I didn’t know . Baby is fine, turns out I have a low lying placenta so kicks arnt as strong at the moment . Thank you

It’s very common for movement patterns to vary at this stage because the baby is still relatively small and can move into different positions. My midwife told me not to worry about movement patterns until 26 weeks onwards.

Do you have a copy of the RCOG leaflet about feral movements OP? It’s easy to find on their website and really useful.

NotYourHun · 05/01/2020 19:18

Fetal not feral!

Babygray2020 · 05/01/2020 19:29

@NotYourHun Yes ! They said to always get checked, no harm and no point in worrying .
