Baby Show at Excel London worth a visit?

I'm due later this year and wondering if a visit to the Baby Show at London Excel in March is worth going to? Has anyone been before and got some good deals on baby stuff? Tia!

Definitely!
I negotiated 35% off of my car seat, picked up loads of freebies and there are lots of products to be found that you may not have noticed before.

Yes i’m Going!

Umberta · 05/01/2020 17:15

I was actually thinking of starting a thread asking about this!
So my DH is slightly reluctant to go (although he would come with me) because he's worried we'll be tempted to buy too much useless stuff 🤔 does he have a point do we think? It's our first baby so we don't have very firm ideas of what we need and so we would be the classic suckers for "must have!" useless tat haha. I definitely don't want to clutter the house with stuff we won't end up using!

cracker86 · 05/01/2020 17:20

Think we will book a couple of tickets. Same as you @Umberta. This is our first so will be aware of not overbuying stuff we don't actually need. Hoping to hold out buying certain things till the show and try and get some good deals. Fingers crossed!

I think I'll book us tickets too! My DH is so worried about the useless tat thing that I've started a thread about it, hopefully that'll give me some confidence to say No to certain items when a stall holder is being persuasive haha!!

Mum2b2020 · 05/01/2020 17:55

I got a mam steriliser with bottle warmer and bottles here for about £65 which I've seen for £90 elsewhere. Also got a changing mat and nursing pillow for £15. We also came home with a wheelie case filled with samples and bottles from the stalls. The £5 goody bags contain quite a bit. When I went with my friend I managed to negotiate several hundred ££ off a bugaboo bee so it was definitely worth it.

Ooh I was wondering the same thing! So glad someone has asked. Has anyone done that VIP before? Is it worth it? Xx

Pinkflipflop85 · 05/01/2020 18:21

I wouldn't bother with the vip thing myself

essexanon · 05/01/2020 18:27

@Mum2b2020 that’s really good, did you have to pay the full amount and take away the bugaboo that day? Or did you pay a deposit and instalments & delivery after? Xx

strawberrysundayss · 05/01/2020 19:27

Baby show was the best! Picked up a floor sample of buggy I wanted for nearly half the price plus loads off car seat and other savings. Would definitely recommend.

Jaxx14 · 06/01/2020 11:11

Would love to get involved in this as the savings seem so worth it, expecting twins and so any pennies we can save will be huge for us! My worry is that you have to bring it all home on the day, I assume they can arrange delivery, right?

Pinkflipflop85 · 06/01/2020 11:54

We took the car so put most of it in there. Other stuff we had delivered. When we've been before there is a dedicated area to arrange delivery of stuff to your home.

Jaxx14 · 06/01/2020 13:18

Thanks @Pinkflipflop85 !

I went to the show in Olympia in October (I was very newly pregnant) and would love to go to the one at Excel (going to have a big bump!!).

First baby on the way. Last show, I just went around asking questions, learning etc... scouting out what I may want. Very useful for someone who had no idea. I brought a few bits (pelvic trainer, nest planner book...) but not much.

I would like to go to this one because it'd be a kind of 'all in one place' shopping day where I can get almost everything. Most places offer a 10-20% discount and you do tend to go home with a carrier bag of small freebies which is nice!

The VIP pack is new... don't think they've offered it before. I'm considering it. The Friday was by far the quietest at the last show!

If anyone reading this is driving from Brighton, please feel free to PM me! I'd love to carpool! Thinking I'll have to train up on the Thursday evening and stay in a hotel otherwise!

Mumtobe87 · 10/01/2020 22:38

I didn't rate babyshow at all if I'm honest, some things were a good deal, most were overpriced. I ordered an egg buggy, maxi cosi car seat, next to me crib and another crib for my mums house... The egg buggy came late, the maxi cosi car seat turned up broke and the crib for my mum was going to be delayed delivery but 2 months, which I'm still waiting for a refund for. I honestly wouldn't bother.
