21 weeks and cannot stop itching, especially feet and hands it’s driving me nuts! Went to docs Friday morning and had bloods in afternoon to check liver. Now weekend and the waiting along with the itching is driving me insane. Anyone any ideas how to relieve?

Ring your hospitals maternity assessment centre/triage. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do for the itching but you may need medication if your bile acid/liver test results are higher than they should be.

Have you got any aqueous creams? They can help soothe the itch. Piriton is also safe to take. If it gets too bad then pop in to your maternity unit to be assessed. They can send the bloods as urgent and get them back within a couple hours. Hope all is ok x

There’s not enough evidence to confirm if piriton is safe to take during pregnancy

Sorry I should have rephrased. Most medicines haven't had enough studies on them to say if 100% safe in pregnancy. However, doctors do prescribe this for obstetric choleostasis

Have you tried cooling lotions? I itched like crazy in my pregnancies and cooling lotion was the only thing that helped.

@Scoobydoo1 how are you getting on? Hope all tests came back normal for you x

Liver tests came back high, but second one was lower and having repeats on Monday. Bike count is 3. Anything between 1-14 normal so that’s good and they have ruled out OC. Could be down to vitamins in pregnancy which I have stopped and itching is less also could be due to a virus. They are doing a liver scan next week anyway just to make sure but think it’s unlikely. At least it’s not OC feeling a lot more relieved. Thanks for asking xx

Glad liver tests were mostly normal. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy xx
