AT 10+4 - put on lots of weight (don't actually know how much as don't dare weigh myself, but I think it must be about a stone by now.

Please resasure me that this is normal for some people, or am I just a pig who will never be able to loose with the weight after the baby is born?

I don't think I have been eating that excessivly, just seem to keep getting bigger!

I really cannot emphasise enough, do not worry about weight / food. I had a blip on growth scans 2 weeks ago as at 33 weeks baby growth had tailed off and was measuring small. despite reassurances from my obs and mw that this was not related to the fact that I was underweight when i fell pregnant - I felt so unbelievably guilty. Fortunately second growth scan today showed all was well (growth is fine, baby is a little small but is most likely normal for me).
As the other posters have said, try and eat healthily - there is no need for your team to weigh you if you are of average build. And I couldnt agree more, there are plenty of things to occupy you during pregnancy - weight gain shouldnt be one of them. It can always come off after!

I've put on 6lbs so far and am 11 + 6 but I am trying not to worry too much about it! As long as you are eating a healthy well balanced diet then don't worry... You only need an extra 300 calories or so a day which is only a bowl of cereal as a before bed or mid afternoon snack and a biscuit!

I put on quite a lot of weight in the first trimester of each of my pregancies. My GP told me it was too much but it seemed to even itself out over the full term.

Hi Angua. Just to let you know, I thought I was piling on the weight too. Boobs def bigger, belly expanding and not able to do buttons up, sometimes even zips! But weighed myself 2 days ago (peering thru my fingers cos I was so worried what the scales would say!) and I haven't actually put any weight on! I reckon my body is just changing shape, plus maybe a bit of water retention and (unfortunately) some extra bloating due to wind!!
But anyway, as everyone else has said, don't worry about it! Try and eat as best you can to stay healthy, and sod the weight!!

i put on 2 1/2 with dd1 and 3 with dd2, the majority of it unfortunatly always seems to go on my arse

im being more sensible this time by not surviving on chocolate though that may change i didnt think id put weight on but at the midwives at booking i was half a stone heavier then i thought it was. im putting it down to constipation and the fact im no longer an aa cup im an a [very proud smiley emoncicon thingy]

i am however naturally tall and skinny and had lost far to much weight after mc so it was to be expected

With all my pregnancies I put on a lot of weight in the first trimester because I am hungry. Everything usually settles down in the 2nd and 3rd trimester whereby my weight gain evens out.

Please don't worry too much. I think after the baby's born you can start shift the excess. I know easier said than done but just enjoy being pregnant.

Hi Angu. Please dont worry about your weight, there are lots of us out there that are the same.

Before i met my Hubby 3 years ago i always weighed between 9st 7 and 10st. When i met my now hubby he was very into his fitness so by the time we moved in together 10 mths later i had managed to get down to between 8st and 8st 7 and have managed through being carefull to stay that way every since.

Now i am 20+5 wks pg with our first and already i weigh over 10st (darent get on the scales anymore). I have a massive bump that makes people think im further along than i am, and i have worried alot that im doing something really wrong here, but i have had a little word with myself as if i cant spoil myself now then when can i, and if i managed to loose weight before i can do it again.

So just enjoy your time and just think once baby arrives you will have so little time to think of food and be running round so much the weight will soon drop off!!

Just to reiterate what everyone has said here: it IS normal. I'm 28 wks now and put on an alarming amount of weight in the first trimester. Asked my (female) doctor about it and she looked down her nose and said, 'hmmm, well SOME women don't put anything on at all in the first trimester.' Stupid cow - I've since changed GPs!

It's all evened out now - have put on under 2 stone and that's cool with me. Best friend put on 4 stone and lost it all in no time.

It's normal to be hungry and you put it all on your boobs and belly. Loads of fluid, too - so it's not all fat! Try and do gentle exercise and eat good things but don't stress it.

It seems there are big variations from person to person according to physique. My colleague is a few days less pregnant than I am (she's due Jan 4, I'm due Dec 30) but she had put on so much weight by 12 weeks that there was no point in hiding it --- she had to announce she had a bun in the oven. I am now 23 weeks, still wearing my usual clothes (tho the waistbands have tightened) and still haven't told anyone at work that I'll be skiving off round New Year to welcome my firstborn! My mother says she did not start to show with me until well into her sixth month and never had much of a bump. I don't think it's to do with a tendency to skinniness or porkiness, tho. One woman I know, a professional ballet dancer, long, lean and sleek, was absolutely HUGE, indeed looked full term, at six months. Bodies are so mysterious!
